Having problems: the ROMs, configs and games are all there. When I set it to open winuae GUI the defaults all point to C: drive, I have extracted DamienD's pack and winaue and the launcher to the G: drive for space reasons.

Can you help?

You need the ini file that is in the download folder on the FTP.

Thanks, that worked.
I had to rename the ROMs to match the file names in the .ini file for it to work without the GUI.

Yeah DDLaunch is cool

...but you do know that DamienD already wrote basic instructions on how to do that, plus provided "Host" files.

See this:

Using Notepad++ to modify all configurations to suit your needs in a matter of seconds via the "Search" --> "Find in Files..." function.

For example:

Turn off "Scanlines":
Find "gfx_filter_scanlines=50" and replace with "gfx_filter_scanlines=0".
Find "gfx_filter_scanlines=25" and replace with "gfx_filter_scanlines=0".
Find "gfx_filter_scanlines_rtg=50" and replace with "gfx_filter_scanlines_rtg=0".
Find "gfx_filter_scanlines_rtg=25" and replace with "gfx_filter_scanlines_rtg=0".

Turn off "Onscreen LEDs":
Find "show_leds=true" and replace with "show_leds=false".
Find "show_leds_rtg=true" and replace with "show_leds_rtg=false".

2) "Host" --> "Autoload":

All "Host" files are on the TURRAN FTP under: "DamienD's WinUAE Collection/Host"

If you look at the source code on github, DDLaunch adds the above lines to the command line using the -cfgparam command. The whole point of DDLaunch was to keep DD's configs 100% untouched. The first version I sent to him did loads of changes to his configs which kind of undermined what he was doing. All DDLaunch does now when processing the configs is change the paths to be relative and add no-gui to prevent WinUAE opening its window.

For me, I prefer to untick a box when I don't want scanlines and tick a box when I do, rather than naffing around changing config files in notepad++.

Not sure what you mean by this. DamienD has made everything relative already i.e. all configuration files and WinUAE settings

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice simple option that you’ve added

…but I’m just pointing out that you don’t have to mess about with changing all configuration files using Notepad++.

DamienD has provide “Host” files. These are very easy to set and don’t change any of his original configuration files, see what I quoted in my last post.

Also, people who don’t like scanlines or LEDs will just turn them off; and usually won’t ever want to turn them back on. If they do however, they just remove the related “Host” file

Really DamienD has thought of everything and tried to cover all bases with his collection, options and details FAQs; it may look simple enough as everything just works, but there’s loads of complexity to what he’s done behind the scenes

Sorry, should have been a bit clearer. DDLaunch stores its config files in the main WinUAE folder so it's paths need to be relevant to that folder. Nothing more than that.

@mrv2k

ah, I see! Thx for the clarification!

In related news, someone has uploaded DamienD's winuae collection with DDLaunch as front end without giving credit to either DamienD or mrv2k. Kinda lame imo....

DDLaunch v1.5

This is quite a big release as the GUI is now fully resizable and adapts to the Windows snap points. Also I have included all the options included in DamienD's host files. There is now no need to change any settings in these files. Finally, the scaling has been fixed for all desktop resolutions if using a full window.

Version 1.5 is Available

Fixes & Updates
  • Fixed image and image gadget scaling.
  • Changed and added some icons to the menus.
  • Full window game screen width scales to the desktop resolution.
  • Scanline width adapts to vertical desktop resolution.
  • Fixed JFDuke3D error in scrape procedure.
  • Minimum window size is 1280x680.
  • GUI is now fully resizable and supports Windows maximize and scaling.
  • Added zoom to image popup. Zoom size is saved in the prefs file.
  • Added right click menu to image popup.
  • Removed 'Stretch Window' as no longer necessary.
  • Window size and position is now saved in prefs file.
  • File viewer window now has a minimum size of 700x600.
  • Added 'Swap End To F11' menu option and run program parameters.
  • Added 'Use Alt + F4 to close' menu option and run program parameters
  • Removed a few more unnecessary procedures.
  • Improved and optimized the info loading procedure.
  • Added floppy sounds and volume menu options and run program parameters.
  • Updated DDLaunch.txt file to reflect all the GUI changes.
  • Removed 'Full-Window Stretch' as the game screen position is no longer an issue due to the screen aspect ratio fixes.
  • Added a fixed window size for DD's laptop at 1366x768 resolution.

Interim Update

This is a quick fix for the floppy volume. The volume now applies to all four drives and includes a 10% volume setting.

I've attached the archive but it's also available on the links above.

Fixes / Updates

Version 1.6
  • Floppy volume now applies to all 4 drives.
  • Added 10% volume to floppy volume menu.

This is an awesome frontend! Could you add lower percentages for the drive sounds ? 25% is really loud ! I hate to think what 100% would be like. 8-10% sounds more realistic IMO. Although I have noticed the drive sound changes volume (gets louder) sometimes. Not sure why that happens, (not the fault of your frontend though).

Hey liveevil. I set 15% on my configs and even that seems a bit loud at times. 10% is probably a good setting. I think the volume changes are different drives.

Even the real drive used to make loud sounds on loading certain games/files etc.
The whole case used to vibrate. lol
