WinUAE 1.4.2 path problem (was: I need help)

Hello.
I am using WinUAE wery long time, newer see this before.
I run WinUAE today, and whole paths are wrong.
It looks like WinUAE working in:
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Amiga Files\WinUAE\"
path !?!

I tried to reinstall WinUAE (couple of versions), but it is the same.
I clean registy entry "Arabuusimiehet", but no efect.

Cleen instal (to C:\WinUAE) set paths like this:

WinUAE is Instaled in C:\WinUAE, so defaults Paths should be "C:\WinUAE".
"Reset to defaults" button set paths like on picture.
Rewrite paths manualy solve nothing, becouse i am using relative paths.
All was perfect until now.

So, where is error? Is that some Windows isue (meaby after some auto update)? I am using WinXP SP2
EN.

PS: Sorry for my english.

Hello hoborg,

Very strange indeed... I just downloaded and tried the latest version of WinUAE i.e. 1.4.2 and have exactly the same issue as you do

I also manually edited the registry to make the paths relative... All would change except for the System ROMS: even though I changed the KickstartPath string to be .\Roms\

Edit: I should add that I don't use the installable version like you do, just the zipped one (I usually clean the registry manually before use though)...

I'm so glad this isn't just me

Yeh I've had exactly the same problem, all the paths were changed the first time I ran it, and the system roms path always shows the default path, although if you set it to your actual rom path it will find your roms and they will still work next time, it just won't actually display anything but the default path.

Looks like there is usual last minute breakage.. ("but it is so small change, it can't break anything" grhmp..)

This was only supposed to make new paths default always available (because Vista does not allow writing to "Program Files" as a standard user), not select it by default in some cases..

Anyway, easiest workaround is to create directory called "roms" in same directory as winuae.exe, move your KS roms in roms, select "default" path in paths panel.

Does http://www.winuae.net/files/b/winuae_1430b1.zip fix the path problem?

I'll most likely collect possible "stupid" bugs next few days before releasing update. Not sure yet.

Hmmm, if I type in .\Roms\ in the Settings --> Path area, click Rescan ROMs and I get the following message:

The directory exists and all the Kickstart ROMs are present...

If I exit WinUAE and restart the System ROMS: goes back to C:\WinUAE\

Also, if I look in the registry the following is set for the KickstartPath string:

Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Amiga Files\WinUAE\roms\
However, if I manually edit this string to be .\Roms\ it stays

The bug is still there: All path points to C:\Documents... after pressing "Reset to defaults".

Correction:

WinUAE default (old) works, but WinUAE default (new) / Amiga Forever points to C:\Documents

I noticed another bad thing too: WinUAE crashes by booting a HD installed OS with Jit enabled. But it boots flawless without Jit.

1.4.3b1 was only about path problem. Do not use it for anything else
(forgot to disable something new..)

Did the same for me Toni, see post #9 for info

I had to manually edit the registry in order to get the value to stick...

Try "WinUAE default (old)", this works.

Hmmm, I'm not sure what else I can add to what I originally posted?

Clean registry, start WinUAE, select Settings --> Path:
