Software Failure on boot A500+

I recently bought an A500+ but it is having a random problem, upon power on about half of the time I get a Software Failure Error, press left mouse button to continue. If I press then a get my boot screen and then works fine. This happens about half of the time. Any thoughts? I reseated all the chips, battery had been removed there is some corrosion..

thanks

PD: its an Amiga 500+ with 3.1 rom

Is it a genuine 3.1 ROM, or an erasable/UV EEPROM?

More likely to be a speed rating issue? What speed rating where your EPROMS?

I think that is ok for an A500 and probably A1200 too. I've never bought anything less than 100ns. Pretty sure that 150ns is not acceptable for A1200.

dammit read the thread I linked to.
2.04 also worked in my A500 but 3.1 wouldn't (not even original maskrom). you need to solder that resistor pack!
