Question concerning USB-Multicard Reader...
Hi guys,
I purchased one usual 3.5" Multicard Reader from eBay, to test if it works in my Subway. Well... IT WORKS!!! Check it out on my DBox, and a screenshot of the drive mounted upon insertion: - I tried the front USB for my USB stick (as you see in the pic)... It works great! - I tried a MS card from my Sony Cybershot... Also works! - I tried an SD card from my Palm Device and Mobile Phone... Also works! - The only problem I have experienced is with CF cards. They don't seem to work despite the led blinking after insertion (as it does with any other cards). Do you think there might be conflicting with the compactflash.device or CF0? I tried removing these to test it but it didn't made any difference. If I mount an CF card in PCMCIA adapter (via angled adapter) everything works just fine :S It's not so vital to make it work since I can transfer files at ease via USB stick, but I wanted everything to work as intended The only thing that I'm not sure of is the following... The 3.5" Reader connects to my Subway's 3rd and 4th USB header. Since the ribbon had 9 female pins = One row of 5 and one row of 4, I couldn't connect it (since subway has 5 and 5). Since I saw that the 5th pin is ground I made a hole in the ribbons female connector (where the 5th hole didn't exist) to be able to attach it to the Subway. Is there a chance the CF reader might be using this speccific header and without grounding it has issue? One the other hand... The 3.5" Reader's connector has 9 male-pins also so I didn't left a connection out. Anyway, sorry for the long post... More hardware pr0n soon (Zetr0 saw some sneak peaks already) |
