IBrowse; fix images height on high-res WB

I was wondering, is there a way to adjust how IBrowse displays images on resolution not 1:1? It uses an internal viewer and maybe it can be configured in some way to vertically resize images by 50% so their aspect ratio don't get messed up on med-res screens...

I don`t know a solution but why not use one of the available 1:1 screen modes (highres laced, lowres, multiscan productivity, dblpal(ntsc), ...).

because laced screens on 15Khz makes my eyes bleed plus they would be slower and eat up more chip ram

Using IBrowse on a 15Khz screen will make your eyes bleed either way.

I'm pretty sure IBrowse couldn't scale pictures depending on your screen's pixel aspect ratio - but you could use 'external' image decoders (read: datatypes) instead of the internal ones. Maybe there are datatypes who can do something like this? I doubt it, but maybe you're lucky.

Anyway, it's not worth the effort. IBrowse has to reduce the number of colours of every image when using an 8bit display - that's sloooow, and the result looks like crap.

You don`t need to use a flicker screenmode. Just pick one that fits your needs. For AGA multiscan productivity or dblpal(ntsc) are good. Your monitor should support 15kHz and ~30kHz and or use a scandoubler/flickerfixer.

I'm aware of how to change resolutiion, I can even use HDMI output from my vampire but I'm not interested in changing my 1084s for an LCD. I'm just trying to figure out a way to make ibrowse display images without completely ruin also the simplest webpage for no reason.

Interlace isn't slower

Anyway, image scaling would be very nice indeed.

Does IBrowse have an option to use DataTypes for image display, instead of its built-in decoder? If so, you could look into whether any image DataTypes have a halve-the-image-height option.

It does but IIRC you lose progressive loading of images.

There are option to configure external viewer. I used multiview now, jpg crash the app but with png it's working. Problem is halve vertical size now, really I have no idea...
