WHDLoad error: error during 'resload_LoadKick' on monkey island & others
Hello,
A while back I bought and registered WHDLoad which is great. Whilst most games work just fine, I have a problem with some. Monkey Island 1 and 2, Sidewinder and It Came From the Desert for example, all display this message when loading: error during 'resload_LoadKick' invalid kicksart image retry/cancel Any idea if this is some kind of WINUAE setup I have to change? I have all the requisite kickstarts in place, as far as I know. Thanks! James |

Wrong KS 1.3 image then. The correct TOSEC name for the valid one would be 'Kickstart v1.3 rev 34.5 (1987)(Commodore)(A500-A1000-A2000-CDTV)[!].rom'.

Hi - that's the one I appear to have, I've attached a screengrab of my list of available roms, hope this helps.
Could it be that I don't have it in the right place? Last edited by jamespstevenson; 18 March 2010 at 23:18. |

Thanks for your help & links, much appreciated. It states that a folder called devs needs to be created for these files, could you possibly let me know the path where this should reside?
Sorry - bit of a noob! Loving having a crack at these old games though, many of which i never had the pleasure of owning back in the day. |

I'm not sure how you've set up your HD or if you use a preinstalled HD setup (ClassicWB, AmiKit etc.). On your first partition (or HD) is a folder called 'Devs'. In that you create a new folder 'kickstarts'. Put the KS images and the RTB files in it. You can rename the KS images in windows before moving them to the kickstarts folder.

Thanks for your patience.
Here's the path where my kickstarts currently live. I run everything through GameBase and have copied them all here. I'd never heard of the RTB files so i've just downloaded them now and will follow the instructions on your link. Attached is my directory path for Devs - hope this looks logical! |

Just copied all of the files in the downloaded 'kickstart' folder to my kickstart directory. Image attached. Still getting the same resload error though unfortunately.
Are the other files in the skick directory important? Could it be that they need to be copied somewhere? Thanks - I'm sure it's something simple I'm missing. Last edited by jamespstevenson; 18 March 2010 at 23:18. |

You only need the A500 and the A1200 image and the RTB file, the rest isn't necessary (but it shouldn't stop it from working). The directory you put them in to use with GB Amiga seems okay to me, but I don't use GB for WHDLoad games I don't know for sure. Will try it later when I get home

Thanks for all your help, I'll keep looking into it in the mean time to see if I've just done something daft.
Much appreciated -James |

Okay, just tried it here with Monkey Island 2 and Gamebase 1.6. I put my KS images in 'WHD\Devs\Kickstarts' (the RTB files were already there) and launched it via Extras. Worked fine for me. No idea what the problem on your side is, sorry.

Thanks for testing it for me, I'll try a fresh install of everything on a new laptop I have, good to hear it's all working as it should.
I appreciate your help, and it seems I have all I need. I'll have a go this weekend and see how I get on. Best regards, James |
