a4000 0s30 and 256 colours

this is probably another simole problem for some.
i have a simple os3.0 installation with a few libs updated to take advantage of the '040's fpu and a few other apps like magic menu, compression utes gfx viewers etc.

the problem is im using a 1084 monitor and having only pal monitor in the devs monitor drawers (cause thats all i need for now), in the screenmode prefs when in PAL 640*256 i can only get 16 colours and not 256 like in my a1200 or winuae.
also in lower res max is 32 colours

could someone please enlighten my as to why ?

Did you run setpatch?

setpatch is executed in my startup-sequence, actually its the first thing.
it 's the original startup-sequence that the install disk produces from os3.0 floppies
