GBS-8200 in A2000

Pulled my Amiga 2000 from storage to find very slight battery leaking ( no damage anywhere), and a 1084s that you have to hold the button down to see the led turn on but no picture. Local repair shop will not take on the job of repair due to parts availability and age of the monitor.

Found a working VGA monitor for 15$ (good will), got the button battery gadget and an RGB to VGA adapter just in case. Also after much reading placed an order online for a GBS-8220. I knew it was not going to be perfect but since the 1084s in the basement will most likely be trashed, and lots of people had good luck with them, it would have to do.
Having a A2000 I wanted it internally so here is what I built...

The 386SX bridgeboard was no longer working due to battery leakage and in this age, really not needed so it got sacrificed for a piece of the edge connector. With a bracket borrowed from an old pc video card I mounted it on the side. Here is a pict.

Not much room there, looks like i'll have to put a fan there somehow.
And yes, powered from the video slot. I looked at the the reference manual and it says this slot can provide 2 amps @5v so I don't expect any problems.

Nice one, I like the fact it lives internally. Much neater than a box on the desk

RE: 1084s, I have a 1081 and it was fixed with a £5 switch (I replaced myself), and the repair shop did a repair on the flyback transformer which amounted to reflowing the solder joints afaik - would the local shop be willing to try that on a 'if it doesn't fix it no responsibility on them' kind of deal?

He didn't look like he even wanted to look at the monitor, seemed like just trying to describe the problem made his head spin .

I guess I'll keep it around for a bit, see if anyone wants it as a give away, if not then to the trash bin it goes (as much as I hate to do that.)

On second thought, I think i'll give that a try when I have some time. You are absolutely right, if it doesn't work then no loss, but I'll talk to the guy see if he feels like experimenting. Thanks for the complement and suggestion.
