Wb 3.1

I have WB 3.1 on floppies, (but the install disk is corrupted), and 3.1 on the 3.5 cd that I bought a long time ago.

My goal is to reinstall 3.1, and since it will be easier, restore the 3.1 install disk from the 3.5 cd.

Anyone done that?

It seems that all you would have to do is copy all files from the Install disk on the 3.5 cd to the formatted but blank floppy, but that doesn't work.

EDIT

I would like to install 3.9 directly, (I have that cd also) but something is wrong with my 3.1 install, and it locks up my system if I try. I have had LOTS of help, (Thanks Thomas) and it is better, but not good enough. (yet)
So, my thought is I will re-install 3.1 first, then go from there.

you need to type> install df0: to make the disk bootable.

Arnie, I guess I didn't make myself clear, my apologies.

I want to re-create my 3.1 install disk. I believe I can use the 3.5 disk because 3.5 has a 3.1 dir on it.

Do you have a list of the files on the 3.1 install disk?

Hello, this is what I installed from my 3.1 folder on the 3.5 disk.

Install
C
Installer.info
Devs
L
Libs
Prefs
S
System
Update

I think there should be 1 or more files/drawers else, there was one error present at the end. (I didn't write it down). However, it did install otherwise correctly.

BTW, I have noticed this before, I can't see any but the install folder unless I go to "Show All Files"

How can I restore the drawers?

If you have a bootable Workbench disk (3.1), you boot with that one and use that one to make drawers, the .info files will then be also created automatically . Do not use shell and/or cli to do this, because makedir from shell/cli makes drawers only and not both drawers and the belonging .info file.

Hope you can make a good install disk now.
