Hi, I have a 9 pin Null-modem serial cable which i use for transfer files between 2 PC`s and i have recently started using my amiga 1200. Would this 9 Pin serial cable work on my amiga and what software do you recommend for a Pc to Amiga file transfer and perferably an easy one. Also where could I use this cable in my mouse port or Joy port. Please help as ive download some files off the internet that i want to use on the amiga. Thanks for you time in reading this

There are a nuber of free apps located on Aminet to do this,

Also you do not use either mouse/joystick port on the Amiga. You need to get an adapter to go from the DB9 serial cable connector to the SB25 serial connector on the Amiga, check the back of is and you'll find it labeled as such, SERIAL. Below you'll find more details on the specifics of the A1200.

Hi Jamie and welcome to the board . I've been around for 9 months and it's a great place for Amiga enthusiasts.

I've recently bought an Amiga to PC parallel link up kit for £15 and it works a treat. On a bog standard A1200 with fast ram, it copies data 40 KBYTES/sec Amiga to PC and 24-30 KBYTES/sec PC to Amiga.

In comparison, serial is maxed out at around 14KBYTES/sec (approx 112000 bps) although it may provide a more robust connection as I find the parallel PCtoAmiga software can fail from time to time.

Have a read here for all the details:

Here is the link where I bought my kit. It's in the above thread, but I thought I'd post it here for easy access:
