A2000 A2386SX BridgeBoard & ATX-PSU Adapter
Some time ago I bought Amigakit's Amiga 2000 ATX PSU Power Adapter Cable which work fine, but later I realized that using the ATX-PSU Adapter Cable prevents booting of the A2386 BridgeBoard, which apparently relies on the TICK signal from PSU (which is missing on ATX) and the motherboard-generated TICK (jumper J300) seems to be non working for BB.
Any help ? (apart from using the original PSU , of course ) |

J300 lets you select the source of the TICK signal, looking at the schematics this can either come from the PSU or from _VSYNC. I am not sure what it does specifically but I could assume it's used as a watchdog type signal, if no signal present then do ( this ) and if signal present do ( that )
Perhaps the BB is using it as a sync back to the Amiga to ensure it all stays in time for clock signals? |

Missing -5V on your new ATX PSU? Just a guess as I do not have a bridgeboard.

TICK from PSU is probably power zero detector i.e. 50/60/100/120Hz.

Mine boots with an atx psu using the jumper to set the tick signal to get from the motherboard instead of from the PSU.

Really? Than you are lucky. Mine BB hangs after Memtest screen. Maybe theres another factor in my Amiga which prevents Tick signal from VSync to work with it.

If you have an oscilloscope you could check for the tick signal, I have even seen jumpers that go open circuit on the inside and that may be a problem, you could have a wire broken somewhere, especially if the A2000 had a problem with battery leakage in the past.

Problem dissapeared after changing the ATX PSU and the Bridgeboard starts just fine so I am happy that I am not forced to use original and noisy PSU!
