ADKCON/ADKCONR register Question

Hello,

Is there any veteran coder here who knows what happens if
register ADKCON/ADKCONR Port 12 called MFMPREC is set to 1, and
Port 9 MSBSYNC is set to 1 ?

Thanks for your reply guys !

If you do that your Amiga blows up, then melts down, and is then reborn from the ashes as an Atari.

Just kidding.

Why not ask what you want to code instead?

it's just an information i wanted to verify, thanks to a coder with knowledge.

It appears that after searching a bit here on eab, those registers with the values indicated triggers the amiga hardware GCR decode/loading.

The plague is rumored to use a GCR protection track, so i guess that those registers are setted in this game.

Can anyone check that in the code ?

I haven't bothered with MSBSYNC-bit until someone finds program that needs it. None found so far.

Well, MFMPREC is for setting MFM or GCR, right? And MSBsync is for reading bytes rather than DMA. Used for nibblecopy I guess, but game loaders would be slow. Is that correct?

Perhaps some game uses it for loading small chunks of data like hiscores?

Anyway, we have a sticky with link to HRM. It explains the hardware very well in theory, but has few examples.
