The CPU slot memory card for A2000A
Hello
Wondering if anyone has a memory card that goes into the CPU slot on the A2000A? I´m thinking about the original card from Commodore. Thanks for looking Tommy |

Eek, very rare at the time. A2000A not common either.
I would guess a Zorro 2 memory card much easier to come across, they both do the same job more or less. You would pay a premium for the rarer type, even if found working. And you only get 512K of fast RAM on it, tops, IIRC A2000a came with stock skinny Agnus, nicer with fat Agnus upgrade and 1MB chip RAM in total. Easier to find one of them than the CPU slot fast memory, which wasn't that fast anyway. You can get 8MB fast RAM on a Zorro 2 card. More bang per buck doing it that way. |

Yeas I thought so.
Many years ago I sold my A2000A at that time, and I remember it having such a card. I now have another A2000A, put an IDE controller in it and kick3.1 the other day. Also found an A2091 with 2megs on it and put that one in. I would like the CPU card for nostalgia, but as you say, they may be to rare/expensive Tommy |

Ah, get it chip RAMmed up if you can. Maybe a real CPU card in it. Probably less hassle and you get a much nicer machine doing it that way, I think that era of the A2000 was mostly done in Germany, so at least you might find what you are looking for one day.
I think some of those systems have unusual CPU and video slots anyway. The Zorro usually works OK, but the other slots can be a bit tricky to get working with "regular" A2000 expansion cards. Sometimes anyway. You can't alwys test at the factory on emerging slot designs. They weren't exactly sure what was "broken" and what wasn't. Dave Hazy was put onto the A2000 soon after that RAM only card, and got the CPU slot working with proper accelerators reliably. Not overnight, but pretty quick. Same with video slot, it was more of a genlock slot really, and the Toaster probably wouldn't have happened without him and a few other people building more controllability into the connections. |

You can't upgrade the Agnus or amount of chip RAM on an A2000A, other than replacing the entire motherboard with an A2000B one.

I have one I need to get rid for the hefty price of 25 eur + shipping (which I guess would be 40e in total). I got one recently and filled up the empty dram row but don't have any use for it.
