I have tried running the MAC OS version of MI2 on my Amiga 1200 ACA 1232/33. It runs quite smooth - with music. And the MAC emulator runs in 640x480 and the image is upscaled (like scummvm hqx).
Why can´t a native Amiga software do this? I think ScummVM is not very optimized.

ScummVM is a massive C++ interpreter and is therefore not designed to run on underpowered 68K hardware.

If you can do a better job to make it run faster on an Amiga then please show us how good you are.

The speed of scummvm on the amiga is fantastic compared with other official ports. So there was a lot optimised. You can even play it on a 020 (my 600). For instance the atari port doesn't even play very well on a 060. So the speed is awesome.
You can't compare this with shapeshifter which works in a complete different way.
If you want full speed with music and everthing you need to get a 060.

I forgot to say that I enjoyed a lot when I betatested the first ScummVM AGA versions and that I would be very happy to betatest any new version with MIDI

My plan is to run someday FullThrottle with an ACA 1230/56, Fast ATA and the Roland. Not sure yet if that will be possible.

Hi Retrofan, ( is that the bad guy from flash gordon)

Yes I would also love midi support. Some of those adventure games have awesome music (mt32). I still have a midi device somewhere.
I think nova already has a doom clone with midi. So probably he is working on it.

FullThrottle has no MIDI/MT-32 soundtrack.

I own a MT-32 so MIDI support would be great. (But I´ve lost my Serial/MIDI adapter ).

Is there a fresh list somewhere thst shows games that run well on the amiga port of scummvm including recommended system specs and various sound support?
(I googled around a little bit but found stuff from 2008 etc... )
(I know Fitzsteve has posted some stuff on Youtube running on overclocked 060...)

Hi eXeler0,

So i haven't tried all the games. But some experience from my site:

ECS version: Not all games are enabled. Sound works great. A bit slow but playable. No music.

AGA version 030: Everything I tried worked. Sound works great. Still a tiny bit slow but very playable. No music ( but i have an 060 now)

AGA version 060: 100 % speed and music emulation.

All the games I tried were the classic ones. I did not try full throttle but probably that will only work good on a 060. Newer scumm games like broken sword are probably even slow on a 060. So I hope this helps a bit. So if you have a 030 you will be able to play most of them I think.

Thanx for explaining Sukerbole.
I have overclocked 060 so that part should be fine.

New version of ScummVM (v1.6.0) ported to AGA (BETA), this is the first version with real MIDI support.

This will be my last Amiga release, I'm selling all of my Amiga gear and moving onto other things...it's been a fun few years and I've managed to do most of the things I wanted to accomplish

@NovaCoder Thanx for all the great ports over the last few years. You and your work will be missed. :-(
Hopefully some brave soul can pick up your source and have a go at it in the future ;-)

Sad to see you go Novacoder but very thankful for what you have done! I hope the shitty attitude of people like the user on top of this page is not one of the factors in making you move along.

With real MIDI support you mean I can connect an external MIDI module to the Amiga and play the music through there? That's just great if it is, will really look forward to try this out once I get back to my Amigas.
