How do I copy Archon games onto a Gotek for the A1000?

I've been trying to get Archon.adf and Archon2.adf working on my Amiga 1000 (512kb PAL, KS1.3, no external FDD) using a Gotek as DF0: without any luck.
Both games work fine if I use the real disks but all attempts to copy them onto the GOTEK have failed.
Of course no ADF files worked either.
I hope someone here may have some advice. I'd really like to avoid using my real disks to load these games if possible.

Both Archon games are copy protected, that's why ADF's made from them won't work unless they are cracked ADF's!

If you use FlashFloppy firmware in your Gotek you could convert the official IPF's to HFEv3 using the Greaseweazle software and use those in your Gotek as they will retain the copy protection!

If you use HxC firmware in your Gotek you can use the HxC Software to convert the IPF's to HFEv3 as well!

There are also cracks that would work as .adf on TOSEC or such.

Surely the recent Scoopex versions of both work via Gotek?

I have tried every cracked adf I can find for both. All work fine on any other Amiga model except the A1000.

I believe Archon only runs on Kickstart 1.2 (and maybe 1.1/1.0). It won't run on 1.3.

I've heard this before and its not correct. Both genuine Archon disks run fine on my A1000 with ks 1.2 and 1.3

It works on KS 1.3 by accident. There's a programming error somewhere. Digging out my old notes:

Quote:
game called FreeSprite with an illegal sprite number
that causes a lot of problems, potentially leading to a crash depending on the machine/memory.

the 1.2/1.3 legend is hard to get rid of

Quote:
- I tested the program with kick 1.3 emulation, but it failed because of the
FreeSprite problem (the
game called FreeSprite with an illegal sprite number -> access fault), so I thought
that maybe the program would need kickstart 1.2 emulation, so I did it, adapting
it from Bert kickstart 1.3. I found the problem was still there on kickstart 1.2
so it was something else, and then I found the FreeSprite fault. It runs on
kickstart 1.3 now. Grrrr.
cracking the game maybe introduces a slight memory footprint difference that makes the game crash afterwards where it just worked by sheer luck before

Best protection ever

I've loaded these games regularly over the past decade on KS 1.3 and never had a crash. In fact they are a great way to test out hardware as they just keep running as long as you need.

Must be a memory problem, I'm wondering if it only works on 512k by accident.

Edit: Pretty sure game has a memory problem. I didnt add anything to the game cracktro wise, the only thing I did was put CLI text and change colours in System-Configuration so text could be read. Other than stopping the protection track read and the 2 later checks, I'm guessing there is a memory error in the protection read routine.

Let me revisit this because nothing I did should have caused this to.need more memory.

1 meg A1000 has no issues

I found an adf version of Archon II that works perfectly on the A1000 from the gotek under KS1.3 with 512kb ram but the original Archon never gets past the intro music. Anyone ever find an Archon.adf that works?
