Populous and WHDload

I am trying to get some of my WHDLoad games working on my WinUAE setup. When I load Populous, the title screen (black with the castle) only flashes and will go to the demo screen. I can't select conquest from the title screen. I was just wondering if someone else had this issue with WHDLoad

Yes, I reported this issue over 3 years ago (http://mantis.whdload.de/view.php?id=2475), in hindsight I'm not sure why I bothered though given the lack of any action...

Actually it works in WinUAE. Make sure you use a proper "real hardware" config with cylcle exact CPU+Chipset, no JIT. Yes, there seems something wrong. You only have a few seconds to select a game option before it jumps back into the demo mode (happens on real hardware too), but it works though. Maybe Psygore should delay the jump into demo mode somehow. I've tested an IPF and there you have 1-2 seconds more to select a game option.

@source: I assume you use a recent WinUAE version and the latest Populous slave v1.1?

Yes, different settings will change the amount of time somewhat but it is broken on all configs, AFAICT.

i noticed that when th options screen come up you have to select conquest real fast or it jumps into demo mode, always been like that for me, from floppy or HDD

You get at least 5 seconds or so when playing from floppy, it is running much too fast under WHDLoad.

Is this the issue that requires you to hold down the mouse button and drag it along to the Conquest button due to the demo repeating? I used to have this problem, I think I used a different slave, as well as using NoAutoVec and NoCache WHDLoad launch options .

Is there a "trick" to load the data disk levels with WHDLoad v1.3 slave when using CUSTOM1 tool type ?

I did a reinstall to double check, installed both data disks, all went well, no problems here.
However, using CUSTOM1=1 for Promised Lands or CUSTOM1=2 for Final Frontier doesn't seem to make a difference.
Game starts with "World to conquer - Genesis" no matter what.

Am I missing something here on how to properly load the data disk levels, i.e. an in-game setting ?

I tried that, didn't seem to make any difference.

Maybe I'm just daft, idk, never really played this game or data disk levels before.
I just assumed it would load the data disk levels with tool type enabled.

well, there is also an alternative: install the game on harddisk.
I tried the WHDLoad also. When start the game you have to press both mouse button to choose "conquest", but wHDLoad is too fast and you have very few seconds to choose the right option.
