double sided edo ram & blizzard 1230

hello fellow amiga fans,

came across a very old pc dumped in the trash yesterday. quickly opened it to check the hardware inside, and to my great delight it had 2 edo ram modules installed. the problem however is that they're double sided and therefore do not fit inside my 1200 / blizzard 1230-IV.

is it possible to remove the memory chip that collides with the 030 when trying to insert the module and end up using 120 mb instead of 128? or will removing the memory chip render the memory module useless? or even worse, cause damage to my amiga?

Most 128mb Simms wont fit properly, best thing is to use a zip tie to hold it in place, it should still work but you will need to leave the trapdoor off. It'll give your CPU some nice fresh air though so it's not all bad

you can remove 1 of the 2 ranks (probably equal to one side) of chips and use the module at half capacity, but removing 1 of 16 chips won't work..

thank you all for your suggestions. i proceeded to remove one of the chips a week ago, but it still won't fit as the pcb itself is slightly too large. only as little as 1-2mm. so getting it to work will require the removal of all chips on one side and a little bit of the pcb...

i guess i should start looking for another module
