Some very good suggestions so far in this thread.
As for MSX, which I'm a fan of, I use openMSX. blueMSX is very good however openMSX has long surpassed it. https://openmsx.dev/ |

Yep, really - why?
Sometimes I like to try different emulators just for fun, and for example fMSX has everything one need to emulate, simple little emulator, but again, probably not most suitable for my setup with Launchbox. MSX cores in RetroArch are good and works well. (blueMSX and fMSX cores) |

Have you had any luck getting Manbow 2 to run in BlueMSX libretro ?
There doesn't seem to be an option to enable the correct mapper in libretro core like the standalone BlueMSX emulator has. |

I am all over the place with the various emulators. I can never settle on one. My only must have is the ability to simulate the CRT experience. Busy playing with RetroArch. |

Most of MSX games I played were for MSX1, older titles. It is just amazing how MSX games were made and look better quality than other home computers of the time. Too bad it did not take off like C64 / ZX Spectrum in Europe and USA market. |

In quite a few ways actually. Supports more MSX hardware, better accuracy and many more which you can see here: https://openmsx.org/features.html In my opinion, it's the WinUAE for the MSX. |

I have always been satisfied with VisualBoyAdvance (it emulates the 3). The current "fork" is VBA-M:

Retro Arch emulates all 3 and more.
I think that BizHawk should be able to emulate them all. |

I seem to be aboard the Retroarch train these days too.
I gate the GUI and always have to consult the internet when trying to do something new... but once it's working to your satisfaction it's *so* easy to add cores. Retroarch cores are generally a couple of releases behind the comparable standalone exes though. So fuse for Spectrum in retroarch works great, goes fullscreen but you need to jump through some hoops to get the keyboard to work. Only systems I haven't seen listed above are PS2 - pcsx2 PS3 - rpcs3 (performance - gah!) No luck with current xbox / 360 offerings though |

mGBA is the best GBA emulator, hands down. VBA-M is the next best. Sameboy for the GB/GBC. You can also try BGB/Gambatte/Gearboy. If you want to, you can also use bSNES for the Super Gameboy. This will give you the custom borders that the SGB supported, along with the custom colour pallets. BGB also lets you pick the colours and sets the backgrounds, but, it isn't a real SNES+SGB emulator, which is fine 99% of the time though. All of those exist as cores for Retroarch, too. So, two different programs, or set up Retroarch, and download those two cores. (bSNES also exists as a core, too) If in doubt, checkout the following wiki. https://emulation.gametechwiki.com |

BGB is excellent!
There's lots of fun features too, like it can save the sound output as a .wav file. (I used that to make some Tetris MP3s for ringtones for my phone, and just to listen to as well) If you want to try out bSNES + Super Gameboy, the only thing you need to know is put the SGB rom file in the RetroArch/System folder, and name it: SGB.sfc for the SGB, or SGB2.sfc for the Super Gameboy 2. Then, just launch a GB/GBC compatible game, and pick bSNES as the core. If you've never used one, pressing the SNES pad L+R together brings up the SGB menu, where you can set the colour palette, background etc. |

I prefer WinUAE for sure, but both have value in my opinion. |
