UFO Aga&CD32 WHDload version; no intro
Is the whole Intro animation sequence ( included with the original Ufo CD32 version) included ?!
Can' t get it to work ( the game skips the animation part!?). Additionally, when loading the different ingame parts, it does seem like the game loads but skips some menu(-s), text etc ?! The tooltypes used with the slave ( v1.0 ?!) are not described properly on the readme file . |

Just tried Retroplay's slave / install: UFOEnemyUnknown_v1.1_CD32.lha
The AGA version doesn't have an intro, but the CD32 version does and just watched this |

How about the Ufo Aga WHDload version ?!
When running the game on my A4000D (from hd!), on some parts of the game, when starting to load a new mission, for example, some game screens (with text etc..) only flash rapidly on screen, and disappear in about 1/4 seconds. Is that thing something to do with my A4000D 060 processor or something memory related ..?! The WHDload option BUTTONWAIT doesn't seem to solve the problem, neither does NOCACHE; the latter only seems to slow game generally. Btw, when playing WHDload games, I have been wondering, what exactly does the loading (Preload..?) status bar (!?!) mean ?! When loading some games, especially Aga games, that progress bar appears black at first, until it turns blue. Is that sign of some kind of error/problem with preloading and/or memory ?! On my setup, when loading Ufo Aga version, it does just that... Didn't find anything about that topic on WHDload documentation files... (?!) |

Does the same on my CD32 with TF330 64mb, i think its just showing that when its blue it means its loaded the entire game into memory or something like that, could be wrong mind Not had any problems playing the games tho. |

It always was obvious for me that black part is minimal requirement of memory, blue is additional preload of data. But it might be wrong... |

There are two types of caching.
1. Directory/File Metadata caching This kind is active if the Slave has the WHDLB_Examine bit set in the ws_Flags of the slave structure. It causes WHDLoad to collect information about all directories and files present in the data directories. This phase is colored black in the progress bar. It is present only if the bit is set which is usually the case on all kickemu slaves. 2. File PreLoad This happens when option PRELOAD is active. WHDLoad will try to load as much files as possible (depending on available free memory) in all data directories into RAM. This phase is colored blue. The progress bar is only displayed if option PRELOADSIZE is set. If all files could be preloaded (enough free memory was available) WHDLoad will try to set the PRELOADSIZE tooltype before exiting. |
