Exchange the original LEDs

Hi,

is it possible to change the original LEDs to other ones (on other colors)?

Blue/green disk led

Last year I removed the right part of my disk LED on my A1200 with a dremel tool. Carefully I drilled away just enough to fit a standard 5mm blue led, but still keeping the top intact. That way I could then apply the instructions from Doobreynet, to show activity in the PCMCIA port.

I'll see if I have any pictures left from the "procedure".

Yes, Eriond. Please upload those pictures if you still have them.

This modification is fast becoming a necessity for Amiga wedges with expanded storage options as the original LEDs become ever more scarce.

Naturally you don't have to use the original LED's light diffuser if you don't have any existing leds, you could just cut + sand down a piece of perspex.

Floppy disk

Here are some fresh pictures. I couldn't find the old ones. And I also have to correct my statement from above; I used a 3mm LED (Not a 5mm)

Closeup of LEDs

Back of PCB (with additional current limiting resistor)

Connector with added blue wire for the blue led
