You can just run two versions side by side if you want. Just download the zip which only has the executable, run it and it should pickup the settings from your existing installation.

I think the idea behind QuickStart was to keep some unalterable default configs, mainly for testing and bug-reporting... So there's a reason why.

However, the problem does not exist, since you can create as many configurations as you want. From Configurations page, save your cfg and you'll have your "new default" cfg. You can even run it directly by double-clicking, without opening WUAE GUI first at all...

I like the pull down, yet I have some settings that have not to do with emulation of amiga itself but rather on how I interact with winuae, like magic mouse, new hotkeys, etc... they could be seen as winuae prefs settings if you want, the way I interact with WinUAE not the Amiga being emulated. The more I get to know WinUAE I tweak here and there and it get evolved new settings arise, but they all are abit scattered all over the place, and it is easy to copy those over to get the configs uniform. Now that I am thinking about it has not that much to do with quickstart, but rather to have a core settings that belong to winuae and the other config suited to each machine being emulated.

Say there's a default config which I can tweak, and then the quickstart picks from it would make sense for me, but obviously each one has its way to use the program.

Set your preferences and save a configuration as 'default'. Close WinUAE and open it again. Magic

in quickstart there's a dropdown for host configuration, I only get "default configuration", yet on:

winuae/configurations/host

Fullscreen (800x600).uae
Fullscreen PAL VSync.uae
FullwindowD3D.uae
Windowed Integer Scaling.uae
Windowed.uae

No dropdown needed. As I said: Select your settings, save a configuration with the name 'default'. When you open WinUAE the next time the settings will be loaded... by default.

So if after I choose this default setting and I pick from quick settings will it keep the default settings and change only the attributes related to the machine being emulated?
