Video cable issues
Hi,
Not directly Amiga related - but again to do with my VR machines (Amiga 3000 based). My issue is the video cable configuration for the VR machine. This is a 9-pin D-plug with RGB and Sync, from the expansion custom GFX cards. Now, if I plug this into an old CRT screen - all is fine! But, if I plug into an LCD, or (more often required) GBS-8108 or GBS-8200, I get a VERY unstable image thats off colour too. Any ideas? Thanks Simon |

I'm not sure if this falls into same category as others who have issue with vertical lines. Have you tried changing pixel clock settings on the monitor? It seems to help the former. I've also seen a video with it working using a HD scaler as an intermediary but again this relates to the issue above.

I dont think I can change anything on the monitor?
The problem I`m going to face now (that I REALLY need to sort before 7th Dec - due a party that requires this is connecting the VR machine via the 9.pin RGBS to GBS-8220 (RGBS to VGA) to a laptop LCD panel, driven by a lcd LVDS driver. I read that a 330ohm resistor on the sync line may help - so I`ll try that tonight. |

If that's the case, I believe it relates to why certain RGB cables don't work with newer TV. Something to do with resistor on certain pins. Not sure if ohms but might be worth a review of Ian Stedman's page via Google search which has the relevant info and diagram of the cable set up.

Awesome! Fingers crossed.
BTW my LED TV didn't work as the image kept jumping. But using LCD it was fine as was plasma (which incidentally has 3 scart and various other A/V inputs) so I presume the varied signal types could be met by one or more of the ports? |

Plasma units tend to be higher end, and as such, better supporting of the various input types. My plasma has 2 SCART inputs, and both accept RGB, with or without the resistors. I needed to use the service menu to set the horizontal position as the Amiga's output is beyond the range of automatic positioning the TV offered.
