Installing Originals - Birds of Prey, Jungle Strike & Ishar2

Can anyone out there tell answer me these 3 questions;

1.) Can Ishar 2 & Jungle Strike be installed to HD? I have the original disks (which are WB disks) but can't find the manuals!

1a.) IF the above is possible, HOW do I Install them?

2.) Can anyone with Birds of Prey let me have the BOPINSTALL program or the script details? Many moons ago before my 1200 had a HD I deleted the program on the BOP disk to leave more room for the pilot saves. Doh!

Answer to 1 & 1.a http://www.whdload.de/download.html

And you need the Whdload program installed first of course

Answer to 2 is whdload, too, as there is a nice installer there. Anyway, put the bopinstall script in the zone.

Thanks very much for the help folks but ideally I want to use any "original" Install options/methods ratehr than rely on WHDload here. Reason being that Jungle Strike and Ishar2 are 3 & 5 disks respectively and I get annoyed with the flashing screens when WHDload can't use Preload on my humble 2mb 1200.

Is there anything is JS & I2 manuals about installing them?

According to hol they're both not installable, seems you're out of luck there. If I remember correctly there was at least a hacked hd version of Jungle Strike.

I've got some info here re: ishar 2 hd installation

"- AMIGA/AMIGA 1200: copy all the files into a sub-directory on your hard disk.
Start the game with T.X, having first put diskette A into drive DF0."

I don't know about Jungle Strike

OK. Ishar2 files are on my HD and it seems to run albeit somewhat temprementally. Perhaps it isn't 100% A1200 compatible.

I'm working through the Birds of Prey script but don't know how to make this a self running script (ie double click the icon and let it do the work) so I am typing a line at a time in Shell. Does anyone know how to make this "runable"?

Jerry - Thanks again for BOPINSTALL file.

I have now successfully followed each of the instructions in Shell and have got BOP installed and running on my A1200. The curious thing is the GFX corrupt when running it from HD unless I change the Chipset settings to ECS at bootup. The FD version runs fine without needing the ECS option. Anyone know why and how I can correct this?

As soon as SetPatch is run in your startup-sequence, all the AGA settings on your computer are fully enabled. You can try a few hacks like Degrader, T.U.D.E etc, they might help. But WHDLoad is the best way to go if you have enough memory (which you will have for Birds of Prey at least)

Thanks, Codetapper. That makes sense now. BOP is fully installed (including the animated intro).

Sorry to be constantly asking questions but is it possible to make an Amiga equivalent of a PC .bat file? The reason I ask is for some strange reason I would to be be able to double click an icon which loads the intro then loads the game after.

Piece of cake, say your script is Birds of Prey - just add a project icon (easy with Dopus) and set the default tool to IconX and that's it. Double clicking it will be as if you had typed execute "Birds of Prey" into a Shell.

The closest equivalent to a batch file in Windows is to set the script bit of the file: protect Hunter +s

Then you can just type Hunter and it'll effectively do execute Hunter - no need for ugly .bat extensions either
