Wow... They still make the ENTIRE m68k lineup

From the 68000 to the 68060... Of course, once you get past the 68030 ($80 for a 50 MHz chip) the costs become obscene (Seriously an 40 MHz '040 goes for about $200 and a 60 MHz '060 goes for a whopping $524!!!) They've even updated the manufacturing tecniques enough to make the things RoHS compliant (aka not illegal in Europe)

Must explain why a 68060@60 MHz costs twice what a Core 2 Quad costs... After all, when dealing with customers that'll pay $1000 for a toilet seat, $500 for a 15 year old CPU design doesn't seem so bad...

Still, with prices like that, it's no wonder why nobody makes 68k accelerators anymore: they simply costs too much.

What DOES puzzle me is why nobody's been making Freescale e600-based accelerators. The e600 is what WOULD have been the G6 had Apple not gone over to Intel and while Freescale doesn't post price lists on its website, rumor has it that it's quite cheap... Does Freescale simply not sell their top-of-the-line PPC stuff in the small quantities which hobby-oriented hardware companies are likely to order?

Well, the production quantity of an 68060 is much lower than any Core2Duo these days.
