Amiga games you prefer to play on other platforms
Does anyone prefer to play some Amiga games on another format for nostalgia reasons, even though the Amiga version is superior?
I had a ZX Spectrum +3 all the way up until I got an Amiga in 1993, so there are loads of games that people might think of as Amiga games, but I will only play on the Speccy - simply because that was where I first encountered them - is that weird? Here are a few examples: - Arkanoid - Batman The Movie - Bloodwych - R-Type - Golden Axe - Ghosts N Goblins - New Zealand Story - Rainbow Islands - Hero Quest - Hammerfist - Rick Dangerous (I & II) - Rod-Land - Smash TV - Afterburner - Midnight Resistance Having said that there are some pre-1993 Amiga games that I never encountered on the Speccy, so I'll prefer to play the Amiga one, e.g.: - North and South - Stunt Car Racer - Bionic Commando - Pac-Mania - Shadow of the Beast - Silkworm Last edited by antonvaltaz; 04 November 2009 at 10:39. IMO Alien3 was better on the MegaDrive than the Amiga as you have the 3 fire buttons so could change weapons, jump etc. a bit easier.
I can't recall many other examples. |

Last Ninja II and Giana Sisters are prime examples of games where the C64 version is SOOOOO much better than the Amiga version!

Batman music on the speccy I must admit is great though. Gauntlet 2 is the only one i can really think of at the moment that plays better on the speccy to the Amiga version. |

Oh, Outrun on the spectrum was a nice conversion better than the Amiga.
I remember the other side of the tape had the theme tunes ![]() |

When I had my Speccy I couldn't afford an Amiga or Amiga games (though I badly wanted one) so I had to make do... but now I'm used to the charms of the 8-bit version, and don't want to be seduced by the glossy 32-colour, non-colour-clash Amiga versions - however much better they are! |

CJ the elephant antics and CJ in the USA. I think they are better, or maybe equal on Amiga, but I like them more on C64.

dont get me wrong, especially with ones like NZS and Batman where i had them on both, i still like the ZX versions. In fact, ZX NZS is the version that plays closest to the Amiga port!
However, something like Bloodwych, Rainbow Islands or Midnight Resistance, really benefit from being on the Amiga, as they are a fair bit faster. (and Bloodwych is very difficult to look at on the ZX for me) |

I think I remember reading that the Speccy one was easier, I expect it was slower and had fewer enemies on screen at any one time...

R-Type was slowdowned a bit for the Speccy. The Amiga port is great (no matter what others say), though not arcade perfect like the 1:1 PSX port.

Not really true, e.g. Arkanoid, Marble Madness, Silkworm or Super Hang-on are perfect Amiga arcade ports. It came from the Desert, Hybris, Battle Squadron, Blood Money.... there are of course very good "pre 1990" games.

A lot of early action games are inferior compared with later ones, but i still wouldn't generalize that. Especially not if you include other game genres too.

Fantasy World Dizzy is one that comes to mind. The Amiga version looks nicer, but those games are pure 8bit for me.
