AF > Cloanto WB 3.1 > Installtion questions > [Resolved]
Hi there guys.
I own Amiga Forever (2005) Premium Edition And I was wanting to create a full WB installation in emulation to mess around with and learn. (Esp seeing as I never had a HDD for my Amiga's when I was a youg'un). Question: Is the WB 3.1 .ADF supplied with Amiga Forever a "Full" WB installation (as in the full 5-6 disk set that you got with the orignal Amiga) ? The .ADF file is 880k (so would suggest not) unless its been compressed I've asked this question to Cloanto themselves via their online webforms, but they never got back to me. TIA for any help or advice. Last edited by Noob-tech-ninja; 25 July 2021 at 22:37. |

With your AF purchase you should have gotten a full distribution of ADFs for WB3.1
amiga-os-310-workbench.adf amiga-os-310-storage.adf amiga-os-310-install.adf amiga-os-310-extras.adf amiga-os-310-fonts.adf amiga-os-310-locale.adf as well as the ROMs for Amiga OS 3.1 if you didn't get these, then I suggest that you actually go buy the distribution - or if you have bought it then start pounding on doors until someone answers. |

create a .HDF (Hard drive file, 5Mb minimum up to 4Gb) and attach it to WinUAE.
Insert Install 3.1 in df0: and boot, it's best to set maximum floppy speed under the disk drive section, also more that 1 drive will speed up installation. |

1. @Saghalie - I've thoroughly searched my CD's and DVD's that came with
Amiga Forever (2005) premium They do not contain the files that you mention They do have a basic Workbench version for every Amiga model released As in - the 1st Workbench disk, that provides you with a bare bones OS (So enough to run some apps and games) but not the entire disk sets). 2.The crazy/annoying/ironic thing is, I actually own the original, physical Workbench 3.1 diks. However - 2.1. I cant find them since I moved house recently 2.2. My (real) Amiga A-1200 floppy disk drive is not working at all (Its not reading disks - as per a previous post of mine). Ah well, back to the drawing board. Thanks very much for the help and advice, so far. |

I was going to check my old versions... but they only go back to 2014...
if yours are 2005, may be its time to splash out £17.95 and upgrade to the latest... which will certainly get you all the ROMS (not the latest 3.1.4 or 3.2) and Workbench disk ADFs. (again, not 3.1.4 or 3.2) While I cant be sure.. pretty sure you are "not doing it right" if you cant find the stuff in a legitimate copy of AmigaForever (even 2005 vintage) and sure I could find the 3.1 WB disks online without much trouble.. but nice to support AF, so may be best route for you if you struggling. Good luck. |

not sure what you got. But if for some reason you DO have it and have installed it on your PC, look in HARDDRIVE:\INSTALL LOCATION\Amiga Files\Shared\adf (in other words... C:\Users\Public\Documents\Amiga Files\Shared\adf ...) That's usually the default location. Try the install again. You're welcome! |

Hi again guys.
1. I definately do have the Amiga Forever (2005) Premium edition. It contains x3 discs (x1 CD & x2 DVD's) with the CD containing all of the Amiga Forever software 2. Here are the contents of the dir that contains the Amiga "OS files" which appear to be the 1st Workbench disk for each of the individual Kickstarts released for every Amiga computer: Location: Home/apps/AmigaForever/Emulation/System/adf Contents of dir: af-boot.adf amigaos-100-wb.adf amigaos-110-wb.adf amigaos-120-wb.adf amigaos-130-wb.adf amigaos-134-wb.adf amigaos-200-wb.adf amigaos-204-wb.adf amigaos-210-wb.adf amigaos-300-wb.adf amigaos-310-wb.adf So it appears that they provide the 1st Workbench disk, which is enough to access the base OS, but not the extra disks to make a full set HD installation. |

If that is the case, I definitely think you should upgrade. Not only will you get all the disks and roms, but they will be unencrypted, which they were back then. You should qualify for the upgrade pricing.

I thought that I own all AF releases since 4.0, but apparently I skipped 2005. In 6.0 there is indeed only the WB disk for 3.1. In 2006 there are all six disks.

Thanks..
I did try check on the wayback machine.. but the amiga forever website is excluded for some reason. But Thomas seems to confirm that full sets were not included (in the 2006 version at least). So while it does seem strange.. I cant add anything to the discussion. Cheers |

@Minuous - Nah, although TBF -
1. I bought the prevous version back in 2006 2. I don't think that the previous version was defective. It just doesn't appear to have those disks on the CD. The good news is, that I did manage to qualify for the upgrade pricing (£17.95) and I've already managed to create a WB 3.1 installtion on a HDF and I'm just doing some testing with it. Cheers. |

Congrats, you now have OS 3.1, while everyone is installing 3.1.4 and 3.2.
IIRC, cheapest edition included all 3.1 disks. (one of them came in bundle on groupees.com few years back, and iirc, it included all 3.1 adfs.) 3.2 is move in right direction, imho. |

Great stuff, glad you are sorted. There is so much you can do now. I like having a bunch of A4000’s configured for different uses and experimenting with.
