Call the cops
Sic animals on the thief
Taser the bandit
Blast the bastard
Ask for your stuff back nicely
Booby trap the packages

If this is going to be a game, it's going to be some sort of home invasion game I'd say. Normally those tend to be horror games but it'd be fun if it is a humorous one.

Attack the Porch Pirate trying to steal your packages!


I'm not sure if it would be better as a top down, looking at a neighborhood with houses or a POV looking out on your porch and lawn.



Top down could be a bunch of Porch Pirates (multiplying with each level - frantic), cops running around the neighborhood, cop cars, home owners, etc.


POV could be blasting multiplying amount of Porch Pirates with different weapons. Be a totally funny thing with speech or speech bubbles.


That type of thing.... lot's of possibilities!

This could actually be pretty decent.

Imagine a map with maybe half a dozen streets, and maybe 2 or 3 couriers making deliveries to householders who may or may not be home.
A few dozen people walking around the neighbourhood, mostly innocent, a few porch pirates among them.

You have to apply countermeasures to a package between it being dropped off and it being stolen, but you lose points if the householder gets to a booby-trapped package first.

As the game progresses you get more and more effective countermeasures (but you lose points if they harm an innocent bystander!)

Awesome! You could even have a few of these strategically positioned around the neighborhood!

Get 5 Porch Pirates at once - 10,000 points!
Get 10 Porch Pirates at once - 50,000 points!

Sounds like a tower defense kind of game with benefits to me...

Indeed - or it could be made so that the player's character has to drive around the streets and visit newly-delivered packages to add countermeasures.


Perhaps have patrolling police officers, too, who will assume you're stealing the package if they see you interfering with it, so you have to avoid them too.

Perhaps have fistfights with thieves - which you'll lose if your character isn't strong enough (perhaps you can choose to spend reward money on better countermeasures or a gym membership!) - the possibilities are endless.

My initial thought was isometric, like Paperboy but more to the point like Project Zomboid.
