First boot from the Install disk, then run HDTools/HDToolbox to partition the drive. When you leave HDToolbox, it asks you to reboot. After that there should be an icon "DH0:????" or something similar for each partition you created. Select these one by one and choose "Format disk" from the menu. Use quick format only.

After that, open the Install drawer on the Install disk and run the icon with your favourite language. Do not choose novice when asked for your skill !

You can even "install" WB by just copying over files from floppy to HD (as long as your partition is bootable and formatted). I have never used the WB install script.

Unlike Windows, you can always install Amiga stuff manually if you want.

on IDE drives, If you click LOW LEVEL FORMAT (which on older drives, would KILL IDE's), are now intelligent enough that when receiving the low level command will actually respond with an Acknowlegement, but ignore the command.

Doesn't the WB install script modify the startup-sequence for use with a harddrive?
