May Quiz - Clues #1

Of the over 80 suggestions for a new user generated quiz, only 25 could make it into this Make-a-wish round... with a bit of luck your game is there too, so take a close look.

It is by no means an easy round, more a random chaos instead, so I will give you some clues again - here are the Clues #1:

1) Game 14 is the grandfather of a RPG series that was released for DOS computers.
2) Number 18 is an exclusive game for the Atari 2600, released in the early 80s.
3) With the 19 we have an fps with a focus on multiplayer, appearing first on Xbox 360 and Windows in 2009.
4) Title 20 is loosely based on a bible story, you fight some angels in melee combat.

Deadline is Monday the 31st of May, participate via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/

Here ist the quiz again, good luck to all of you:

May Quiz - Clues #2

So far there are 36 players, and eight users have already succesfully recognised the games they wished for. Nice! However, in this round the entry #14 has caused questions in several communities, and I have since come to realise that this title's engine has been used in so many other RPGs (I count at least eight), that it amounts to an impossible task - nobody has gotten it right.

I am therefore making an exception this time, and will accept every game using the same engine as a correct answer. If you already entered an answer like that, it is now treated as a correct entry.

Here are the Clues #2:

1) Number 9 is a game from this decade, where you explore an unknown (and very colorful) planet.
2) The plot of title 13 plays entirely under water.
3) Game 16 is a simple platformer that was released between 93 & 94 for only Nintendo and Commodore platforms.
4) The #12 isn't a Game Boy title, it was released for a range of modern platforms. You play an octopus with unusual skills.

Deadline is Monday the 31st of May, participate via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/

Here is the quiz again, you can do this: https://i.imgur.com/pNXoeCM.png

May Quiz - last weekend!

So my ladies and gentlemen, sixtyfour people are already in the game, two of these from this community. It's a tough round, so you get one last set of help... now join in, this riddle ends tomorrow!

@Mailman your entry looks very incomplete. Was that supposed to be an update to a first post that I didn't receive? :/

Here are the Clues #3:

1) Game 5 was first released on Dreamcast, and later for the GBA.
2) Title 4 belongs to the Metroidvania genre.
3) Number 6 has a famous slow motion function.
4) A well known series has two entries in this quiz.

Deadline is tomorrow, please join via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/

May Quiz - Answers & Score

The make-a-wish round is over - was your game in it? Once again lots of people joined, but a full score was only awarded once... some of your wishes were just to mean. Scroll down to see who made it.
Three users whose games were featured in this round did not actually play - KHlover, goschi and Thrawn. Also we got Shades, who joined but didn't recognise his own wish (that's a penalty point!). How did this happen??

A quick update on the quiz in general, with good news and bad news: This round we say good bye to two communities, the Videogameszone and the PCX Forum. Both have been in the game for many years, but for the past months they just didn't have enough participants anymore. :/ The good news however is the ntower community (https://tinyurl.com/nintendotower), who joins in with a strong count of seven players. Welcome to the quiz fellas!

You'll get the high score table at the end, now we start with the answers as text, followed by pictures:

a wish from: windfisch
other suggestions: Baby T-Rex, Casino: Turtle's Palace, Dr. Mario, James Pond, Kirby, Parodius, Rainbow Islands, Tapper, Turtle Boy

Should have with-held points for 'Neverwinter Nights' near misses

I saw the Man & Crocs in different grabs of Azure Bonds...
but you did call it the 'Grandfather' which made me doubt

Well I don't feel too bad that I got nowhere because I don't actually know most of those games except for the couple I recognized No theme is pretty evil.

Really well done to Nobby - 21 points is a real result in a super difficult round. Running away with the overall this year unless we have a music round.

I see... most people recognise Zelda or another game from the first row (I try to make the first row the easiest), so when I saw you left the first eight fields blank, it seemed like there was something missing. Hope you have more luck next round!

Neverwinter Nights (1991) is the grandfather of Neverwinter Nights (2002) and Neverwinter Nights 2 (2006).
...or at least that was my logic.

Well done Nobby! Running away with it this year

My first thoughts when I saw Out To Lunch on there were, "Cool! Someone picked Out To Lunch!", and then I realised that maybe it was me. But I thought I might have Picked Chu Chu Rocket or Four Swords as well.

Thankfully, the games I knew, I got. I didn't have much time for searching this month but it was a tough month for research finds anyway.

I should have got Hollow Knight though.

Thanks again Mr Horizon!

Indeed, I didn't recognise it either. The color scheme paired with the graphical style are pretty unique.

Here are the results of the age survey of the May quiz:

So across all 21 communities, the average player is roughly 38 years old.

The youngest forums/players are the NintendoLife (they even had a teenager) and MetaCouncil, on average just shy of 32 years old. The oldest community... is you guys here at the English Amiga Board, you are 49 on average.

That leads me to to a question, where do people under 30 go for their gaming news? Some discords? News pages, but not the forums? Twitch or Youtube, as video is king? Or am I getting it all wrong by equating my nerdy quiz players with the entire forum.

That's why we all struggled - as near geriatrics, we all have terrible memories...except Nobby who is plainly about 21!

Now what was I typing???
