ScummVM and Amiga Monkey Island

Hi all

Just downloaded ScummVM and I want to play the Amiga version of Monkey Island via this program. The game works but I'm not getting any audio. Anyone know if I gotta specifically configure it in a way that I'm not finding?

it works very well for me with the option windows midi or adlib.
for setting it : 1 select your game
2 click edit game
3 click on the menu audio
4 click on override global audio settings
5 select windows midi or adlib
I hope it will help for me that's work very well, but the sound isn't realy like on the amiga because they don't emule the amiga sound chip (paula).

Amiga Monkey Island uses the TFMX sound driver instead of iMuse.
Perhaps that is not emulated.
There is NO WAY they have mapped TFMX to MIDI devices.
So you must be confusing yourself with the PC version, turrican

I think you're right Akira. I've tried all of this and it did not work. I guess ScummVM can't emulate the Amiga versions?

That's very strange. I've checked Monkey Island 2 Amiga version with ScummVM and it has music. The second part had midi for music IIRC. So it must be the TFMX format which is not emulated

Looks like someone is working on a TFMX replayer.

Wanted!
Even if I prefer the WinUAE solution, I would like to complete my ScummVM collection I visited the ScummBar today but couldn't find the files (okay I found some MP3's from the Amiga version, but not correct renamed to use with ScummVM).

Thanks Damien
I found the information that you can use the files from the ScummBar with ScummVM on the ScummVM forum. But there was no explanation which files you need and how to rename them. So it's good that you have done this and share your files.
Man you must have a really impressive collection there Damien

I was positive that I originally found these from ScummBar. No idea why they removed the information / details though...

Here you go: ScummVM_Monkey_Amiga_Audio.rar

Last version of ScummVM that I tested them in was 0.9.0, I'm sure they should still work with the latest. Please let me know how you go.

Downloaded, unpacked and tested with ScummVM 0.12.0 : Approved Feels like the real deal (okay original WinUAE emulated sound is a bit nicer, but it's really good for MP3's)

Monkey Island 1 has no sound in ScummVM, only with this pack which Damien uploaded. TFMX isn't emulated yet.

I still prefer playing via WinUAE or a real Amiga as well... Even though the files (hence the graphics) are taken from the Amiga version it just doesn't look as good in ScummVM. Must be the scanlines of the real Amiga or emulated via WinUAE that make it more realistic

Now that I have a real Amiga after so many years it's just cool to see some games on a blurry TV again But in WinUAE scanlines are... well... take a look and decide

Many thanks Damien. Trying it out now.

How do I map the audio in SCUMMVM so the program finds it?

I know you've worked it out but just incase anybody else needs to know...

Just extract the .MP3s to the same folder where you store your Amiga files for "The Secret of Monkey Island" and away you go
