Hard Drive Crashes Amiga on Write (SFS)

I've been checking around the forums, but have drawn a blank on possible causes, so let me see if I can clarify a few things first. I've got a CD32+SX32 Pro combo with a 340 meg HD currently in it. I've taken a 4.32 gig HDD and formatted it using SFS under WinUAE following the various tutorials here on EAB to a 450 meg partition as the boot, and a 3.88 gig partition unsurprisingly loaded with WHDLOAD files. It reads fine. The only problem I have is whenever I write a highscore file or snapshot icons, it reboots the hardware. I'm using IDEFix to read the second partition, but the write-related crashes existed before I used it to access the second partition. The old hard drive doesn't have this problem at all. Has anyone had problems like this before and have any suggestions on where to snoop for problems? Thanks in advance, by the way.

Some more information has cropped up. Instead of a reset-inducing crash on save, I actually got an error message that could be helpful: http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/9193/hderror.jpg HD0 has a blockid error in block 4104. Expected was blockid 0x4F424A43, but the block says it is blockid 0xFDFDFDFD. Also my 430 meg HD no longer boots, so it's no-going back now... A search for this type of error message suggests I run SFS Doctor, but that program seems to be just for MorphOS. This is a WB3.1 install.

Have you tried this set of tools. It states it works with 3.1.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, this is the package I used to install SFS to the drive originally a week or so ago, using KG's helpful FAQ on the subject. Not sure exactly what tool or option to take to correct this issue though. I was hoping someone with SFS experience might be able to give pointers on this issue on what direction to take troubleshooting in.

AFAIK it isn't possible to fix any SFS block errors (In your case something really wrong got written to the disk), only solution is reformat.

Yes, backup and quickformat is the "solution" for this error.
