Most Wanted Amiga Hardware.

A quick poll on what the most sought after Amiga hardware is. If the hardware you're after isnt listed, then choose others and then add to the thread what you want.

The poll should give me a sort of feel for what to try to snipe on ebay (Joke)

CSPPC or a CSMKIII is what I would want. Due to their design (060 socket) they can self destruct if handled often.

I've already bought a broken MKIII

I have most of what I want (although I wish I had it earlier when I was using my Amiga for serious stuff). The thing that was top of my list was the Picasso IV. When they came out I couldn't afford one because I had just bought a Cyberstorm MKII for my A4000T. I also wanted a DKB3128 board because 144mb of RAM wasn't enough for me to make big animations to genlock, and to raytrace complex scenes in Cinema4D. Only recently did I get what I wanted (the PIV and the DKB3128 board). Of course I had to make very good offers for both of those in order to persuade their owners to give them up. And after that I got a PPC/060 card, so I guess that I have all the hardware I would need for this A4000T.

Poll: I chose Z3 Fastlane, merely because I am one of these RAM junkies. I would love to get a Fastlane that has the update allowing it to have 256mb RAM. Then I would have my current 272mb RAM plus the 256. And that is a bagload even if you are raytracing (but I do my traces on PC these days).

My prediction for the most sought after hardware:

1) 060/PPC card (Cyberstorm or Blizzard)
2) Scandoubler (good quality unit)
3) PIV

I only place the PIV at number 3 because it is a Zorro card whereas the scandoubler will be for everyone. You could say that a big box owner wouldn't need the scandoubler if they could get the PIV, but I reckon there are more people who want a scandoubler than a PIV.

VERY. The socket is soldered either onto, or PART WAY through the multi-layer PCB. The pins do not go all the way through, very easily dry joint, or worse.

I'd take a CSPPC too.

But it does too little for the price they're selling them at.

I can get a pegasos or a cheap laptop (both more powerful) for the price of a CSPPC

Why would anyone want a picasso IV anymore with the introduction of the Mediator and ATI Radeon 9000 / Voodoo 3 support?

Edit: D'oh yeah, no passthrough or scandoubler for 15Khz modes. In fact most cards after the Picasso IV have rather dodgy scan-doubling options if any.

Question: Do any of the Mediator / Zorro boards have video slots?

The volumes involved and the prices for making PCB's as complicated as an accelerator make it prohibitively expensive.

I doubt we'll see another run of anything again

Yeah, where are those damn things? I've been searching since 2002. I used to think that they were never actually made, but somebody said at least 8 were sold.
