Jimmy White's Whirlwind Snooker (*WORKING*)

Hi,

we've just had this issue on German GAEB. All CRYSTAL cracks available on TOSEC (plus my non-TOSEC CRYSTAL crack) make WinUAE reset when trying to enter the actual game.
As someone reported, this also happens on a real machine, so the CRYSTAL crack seems to be worthless.

Now I'm asking you if someone has a non-CRYSTAL crack lying around somewhere. This would be a valuable addition. More for others than for me, however, because I don't know a single thing about how to play snooker

OK, I just checked my old school DMS files for you. The first one was already in TOSEC, so that's out. The second one, however, was different and may be the one you already have (non-TOSEC). This one is 680x0/AGA fixed by The Krypt as indicated on the bootup...I remembered having both of these working on my A500 and A2000 back in the day. I tested the Krypt-fixed version in WinUAE, but as soon as I hit Enter to begin a game, it was instant crash.

If you want this version just for a wall ornament or something, say the word and I'll swoosh it to the Zone.

Thanks Twist.

Could anyone give it a try on his A1200 (well I don't have one ) if it works on the real thing? I doubt it, but you never know...

Besides, right mouse button for selecting text works in WinFellow, but not in WinUAE.

I was going through my database earlier and on my entry for JWWS, I had written a review for the game which I will clip a couple of bits from:
Quote:

When I first picked this game up, I was quite impressed, as good billiard simulations are always a welcome (and addictive) addition to my games shelf. But mere weeks after this, I upgraded to the Fatter Agnus chip and this rendered the game unplayable.
[...]
NOTE: The Hit Squad reissued this title in 1994 as a budget release that has been rumoured to be fixed to work with all current Amigas. Unconfirmed, however the version included with the Award Winners Gold Edition (from Empire) compilation DOES in fact work on all Amigas.
Perhaps this info is of some use.

I have an original of the Hit Squad rerelease and it does indeed work on both my A600 and A1200 with no problems.

Update time...

someone reported that this game works on WinUAE 0.8.8 R8 without a crash!
That's true.

Toni, could you take a look at the problem with the game?
I re-upped it in the zone.

Right button fixed (game uses very creative way of reading right mouse button's state...)

Game does not crash if WinUAE is in cycle-exact mode (included with next release) -> another game that accidentally worked because older versions had bugs in blitter and/or cia timing.

Happy

Thanks!

You won't guess it ... that's what I posted into the German forum ("it seems the old emulator has a bug, making the game work by accident")

The Krypt version used to work fine for me. Maybe it's the higher clock speed on the ACA1221 that's touching it's sore sore spots. Is the 1200 friendly version still floating around?
