Alien Breed 3D, stuck on level 8, Test Area Gamma

Hi guys,
i've been playing AB3D for some nights again and got stuck on level 8, called Test Area Gamma. After i killed every single foe i was able to locate, i just walked around (had many tries and was unable to locate a yellow locked door or something, because i got the yellow key from the armory behind locked doors (red key). The K2 walker just stops and stands still. I've been wasting 2-3 hours on that level, but unable to get to exit nor get the blue exit key.
I can't recall how did i accomplish that level, when played AB3D back in nineties.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks.

Do you have to destroy the big robot walker to finish the level? If so how do you do that as I unloaded everything on it and it just keeps on stomping after me. And, of course, when you run out of all ammo, you're screwed!

Sorry, It's been too long... Replay the level and search for hidden ammunition depots?

I think it's a random problem with the WHDLoad install. I had the same prob too (Walker stalling & not exploding --> game progress jamming). The normal HD version worked with no probs.

If it is jamming (in the non-Bob Marley sense of the word) that'll be a real shame as I would love to finally play this from start to finish. I'm using the AGA fixed WHDload version which has the title music working, etc.

If I recall well, the walker is lobing granades. I somehow managed to find a spot on the high ground where those grenades could not hit me, but also conveniently bounced back right at him. So he was destroyed with minimum of ammo spent.

Is the destruction of the robot integral to completing this level?

Thanks to the AWESOME WinUAE I completed level 8 by using the ADF images of the game. When the K2 robot goes bang-boom-splat it leaves behind the blue key and opens the steps at the start of the level. When I tried the WHD version in WinUAE the K2 robot just stands still when you kill it and you can walk through it. Odd.

Nice one, Psygore! Is this "fault" something to do with copy protection?

Sorry to raise this thread from the dead but I’ve been playing this again and what I thought was an up-to-date version of the WHDload install must be an old one as I just got the frozen walker on level 8. Is the fixed version available here please?

Found it in there. Thanks.

I also found the rolling demo and the 'latest' demo neither of which I had seen before so thanks for the nudge in the right direction! That rolling demo shows different beasties as well as the much more appealing green aliens. I wonder how many levels made under that style still exist somewhere. I'd love to see some levels like that!

I’m getting some odd graphical tearing when trying v1.1 of this whdload install. I’ve tried the different custom options but the same testing occurs. Has anyone else had this?

yeah ,seems they took a step in the wrong direction really, the beasties were much better in the rolling demo than they are in the full game, shame they didnt keep them, but must have been a reason why they were removed
