SMB share copy files

Hi all.
I have Pimiga4 running nicely. I setup a SMB share from my pc with SMBmounter

My issue is that if I mount adf images over share with GoADF they are fine ( file system OFS )

But if I copy the same adf files locally and mount them with the same prog then they all end up NDOS and won`t open. ANy ideas? is SMB changing the properties of the files in some way?

Thanks

Are the files the same size? There are some older versions of smbfs that are buggy and in some configurations IIRC they add bytes to a file. Also, has the file fully copied? If it gets stuck part way for some reason, the incomplete file won't mount.

They all complete... file flags are the same and file sizes are good.

Now the files are copying and the file size is about a third of the original size

If I drop to linux, mount a the same share and copy them over to the same location. Start Pimiga and mount them.. they are fine.. so something with smb on the Amiga side

Which version of smbfs are you using? I had trouble with certain versions and Windows shares either hanging during transfers or corrupting files (either adding or truncating a few bytes). I believe it was resolved in later versions but my normal use case is to connect to a Linux-based NAS so I just use that instead.

I know too that there is an alternative to smbfs called smb2fs that should work much better with newer platforms. However, it works very differently and isn't compatible with SMBMounter unfortunately, so read the documentation on how to configure the shares.

Trying to get smb2 working now.. but I have it working with smb1.. but everything I copy locally via the share is corrupted. If I mount an adf on the share ( on my pc ) then it`s fine.
sm2 seems easier to setup. installed the bits and pieces, but doesn't mount :/
