Hively Tracker by Iris and Up Rough released for AmigaOS 4.0

Hively Tracker by Iris and Up Rough released for AmigaOS 4.0

Hively Tracker is a tracker program based upon the AHX format created in the mid '90s by Dexter and Pink of Abyss. The format was relatively popular, and many songs were created and used in scene productions and games. AHX was designed to create a very SID-like sound on the Amiga. Hively Tracker is released for AmigaOS 4.0 only.

HivelyTracker can import and export modules and instruments in the AHX format, but it also improves on AHX in several ways and therefore has its own instrument and module formats.

HivelyTracker offers the following features over AHX:
* Multichannel (4 to 16 channels)
* Per-channel stereo panning
* Two commands per note
* A more feature rich editor

HivelyTracker was coded by Xeron/IRIS, GUI design and skins by Spot/Up Rough, The included tunes were created by Xeron/IRIS, Varthall/Up Rough and Oxide/Sonik

The replayer source is included, so it's up to anyone to make a plugin.

sure but they're so few coders on amiga now still really active. That's why i think it could be a good idea to provide some Eagle/Deli players. At least 68k user could listen to the music.

I've heard some good "chip" tunes from Ninja & Skuter in multichannel and i would like to know how Hively tunes sounds.

The famous Buzz from Exotica have done a quick port of Hively player for 68k 020+ http://aminet.net/package/mus/play/HivelyReplayer

He's also planning to make a 68k port of the whole tracker !!

May the force be with you Buzz

Hively tracker is too much cpu eater.

If by "classic" you mean A500... i don't think you'll ever see this tracker on A500
But if Buzz succeed to make it running on 020+ AGA, it'd already be a good job !

BTW he's already done a 68000 version of AHX.

Hello!

As hively tracker was developed on a fast PPC machine with gfx card, it is never going to run on a base amiga. I have been working on a port, which a few people have tested, but the specs are more like 060 + gfxcard. It should work on aga, but you need plenty of free chipram, and use 2 bitplanes or so (You will also have to scroll around the interface as you may not have an 800x600 resolution on aga).

You can download the port here: http://www.exotica.org.uk/~buzz/ht/

This is not currently a final release.

It should also run fine on winuae and morphos. Let me know how you get on.

ECS and AGA support 800x600. o.O Ever since Super Denise the Amiga video chipset timings have been programmable, so you can make 800x600 screens. (4 color on ECS, 256 color or HAM8 on AGA). OS 3.0-3.9 even ship with Monitor config files premade for these screenmodes (the Monitor file is called Super72)

That said, it's an interlaced mode, so you'll want to use it on an LCD monitor or use a scandoubler (not all scandoublers support timings higher than 15Khz though)

Edit: It's also possible to make a non-interlaced 800x600 mode with very low vertical refresh (like 45Hz or so) but you'll definitely want to use an LCD monitor for that one. XD

AmigaHope: Thanks for the info. I actually tested the program in Super72 This is why I said "may not have" since it is possible, but the majority of a1200 users I would think don't run in this mode. I probably should have said "might not have" to avoid confusion.

Yup. xD Also you said that they "will have to" scroll around, rather than "might have to"... ...so I just assumed that you didn't know. ^^;;

I admit though that it's mostly due to me stereotyping UK Amiga users... Old grudge I held against UK mags (especially Amiga Power) for assuming that Amigas were always stock A500s or A1200s hooked up to televisions. I was shocked to learn that in the UK there were A500 users with only 512k of RAM (in most of the world the A501 came in the A500 stock from the shop, I think -- it certainly did at all the stores I went to. ^^; ), and that getting a second floppy drive was considered a big storage expansion. ^^; (Before I got my first hard drive I had 4 floppy drives and it still drove me nuts, it was one of the few things x86-owning friends could laugh at me about. =p )

Hello there, sorry for bringing up again this old thread, i've installed Hively Tracker in my A1200-030 and it works quite well, however i chose Hi-Res first time i ran the program and now i don't see a way to switch to Hi-Res laced or any other resolution.

How could i achieve this change?
Thank you.
