...doesn't matter...
it's just important that your card will be supported by 'PowerStrip'.

get an NVIDIA, IMHO it has less driver probs than ATI.... also get an ATHLON cpu, as it is faster and cheaper

Both have their fair share of issues. The "ATi drivers are a lot worse than nVidias" are long gone, there isn't much in it anymore.

Processors, you're looking at either an Athlon XP or an Athlon 64.

I'll have to agree on cpu speed, the greater the better... winuae is just 2D, there is no reason for a high-end vga in order to run it... Or if it was emulating 3d, it would emulate a 90's card, so even a geforce5200 would be more than enough.
IMHO

Consider buying an Xbox console and using WinUAE-X - an UAE port for Xbox, which is IMO the best way to emulate Amiga games.

@Enverex:
because i like to run WinUAE @50hz - bad for my eyes but smooth.
and PowerStrip is the best tool for setting 50hz at any resolution you want to.

why 50hz???? Here is what you NEED to do: Pick up the screenmode u want to use with UAE and change its refresh to 100 HZ. Then at UAE settings, turn ON VSYNC. Now you have the extra-smooth display at 100HZ.... Do this also with emulators, vsync ON, and the double refresh rate, 100HZ for PAL, and 120HZ for NTSC...

@keropi:
yes, i know the theory about 100hz refresh. but this does not work for me, because when i set to 100hz there is always a slight tearing-effect.
maybe it's caused by my only 1ghz athlon

Tearing is caused by V-Sync being turned off (draws the next fram before the last frame has finished, else normally your FPS is limited to your refresh rate, i.e. if your refresh rate is 50Hz then you cannot exceed 50fps, not really a problem but it bothers some people). Go into your advanced display properties and turn V-Sync to always on if you can and it will run smoothly no matter what refresh rate you use.

Not only that but you can't use IPF files with WinUAE-X - and unless somebody buys (as in purchases, yes, purchases) us a devkit, it will probably never happen.

Why not? I currently have NForce2-board + ATI Radeon 9700Pro. In my opinion NForce-boards are the best AMD CPU boards.
