Argh ok, the floppy exe wasn't created because of a bug in a python script. Now fixed, won't happen again!

available on itch I hope this is the final version. So many other projects to do!

I see that DK is on hol next to Bignonia effort

My projects... Finishing Moon Patrol (reverse engineering is a bitch on that one), making Galaga work (finished transcoding but of course it doesn't work) and a crazy project: Marble Madness 2 if I can understand how the sprites are displayed and how the game works. It's a 68000 game so no transcode needed, that's also the interesting part.

Yo JOTD, i got a silly question for you

Whats up with that red dot in the upper right corner ?

Is that there, so Nintendo cant say: " Hey, that guy cloned our game; it even looks exactly like our good old Donkey Kong game !!!
Sue him !!!!!

and then you could say something like:
No !!; ... look, there is a red Dot in the upper right corner !!!"

In any case , brilliantly done J.F.

BTW: Did you know; the Scores for the Japan/Nicebarrels are not saved correctly ? (just saying)
Would you consider to center the Screen, or is that out of the question ? (just asking)

Hi Torti,

About the red point up in right screen, I found something...

With this latest version ADF & WHDLoad (Both version = 15/02/24)

on a modern display, for myself a Benq BL912 and the original commodore adapter (RGB to VGA) the Red point is present.

But on an LCD TV with scart and a real 23pin to scart cable (Retro Computer shark RGB Scart Lead v2.6=> a good cable) the red point isn't present.

I think these red point is only present with modern display (With an LCD Monitor, and NOT with a TV....)

Please could someone could verify it ?

Best regards,

Pascal

Hi Pascal.

The red Dot came with the 3th revision and is there since then

PS: Here is a Adjust-Test Picture so you can doublecheck if you see the whole Picture.
PPS: Rolling Ronny (the game) fills the whole overscan in the Title&Options Screen and is 100% centered

The Dot is there on all displays, it is just so high up that lots of CRT screens don't start displaying there. This is RGB output from my A1200. RGB to HDMI first then HDMI to USB and captured on a pc:

On my Real A500 I can only see the red dot when I do the analogue screen adjustments on the 1084S Monitor

when I compare it with my RGBtoHDMI
The top half of the image is missing (And TV is configured to "Fit To Screen" Not 16:9)

No Other TV Input setting can expand the image any more to see the red dot on my 16:9 TV

The same ADF with winuae, I dropped the verical position as low as I can and I can't see the dot?

Weird?

The game uses all 256 vertical lines and also part of overscan area.
On WinUAE you can manage overscan area, on some monitors (Analog VGA/DVI wired) too.
But in HDMI you can only have the chance to set Fit-In Mode On/Off where available in standard HD TVs.
So, not always you can have all overscan area visible on the screen.

These conversion are original Vertical games, where the screen were rotated to 90 degrees.
If you own a MiST/MiSTer too, and you playing arcade games on these platforms, You know what I'm talking.

I think the Amiga is great with its PAL Overscan resolution which is suitable to show entirely these arcade conversion without the need to rotate any screen.

On C64/Plus 4 and MSX there a few games like Phoenix Recovered which requires to rotate your Monitor.

I am under the suspicion there is a new bug with the scores... twice they got reset.. the "donkey_kong.high" file was reset to 0 bytes and does not update the scores.. this happened last week and I was able to restore it... now it happened again today. I am using the WHDload version.

I have many users entering their scores so I need some time to investigate on how to reproduce this issue..
it could be someone not entering their initials properly... I will get back to you with more info on this soon.

Just wondering if anyone else had their scores reset also.

if anyone who is a good player wants to test to verify, you can download my attached highscore file and attempt to get a new high score and see if it saves or corrupts the file.
Attached Files
File Type: zip DonkeyKong.zip (349 Bytes, 16 views)

Yupp (i had wrote about this, a few posts ago)

With WHDLoad none of the Scores are saved.

When run "native", (DOS) ; only the scores for the American version will be saved properly.

The Japan "Nice barrel variant" Scores, doesn't work here neither.

I'll check. I have a cheat mode with hiscore save. Don't bother wasting your time trying to get a good score.
