supamax: yeah, Primi Passi is original, it's the copy that came with my A500 in 1990 or 1991... the disk is ecru and the p.n. is printed on the label.

as for the dat that gets from domping them with catweasel, as prowler says, is the CRC, but of these disks, the WB 1.3, Extras disk and possibly a couple of the 3.0 ones have been data written on it (from the preferences to mountlists etc) so the CRC wouldn't be reliable.

i will check the Primi Passi disk though, and see if the others are still readable.

well ... i have updated catweasel's drivers, and trying to dump Primi Passi (working nicely on my A1200, normal AmigaDos disk), this is what i get

Hi Supamax,

The Eyetech items were bought as a complete "Amiga Workbench Version 3.0 Replacement Disk Set". All these disks have Eyetech labels attached. In all cases their labels, which read "Disk Number 1 of 5, Disk Number 2 of 5, etc.", are stuck over the top of the disks' original labels. All but one of the disks were originally from an Escom Amiga Workbench 3.1 set. The original label on "Disk Number 2 of 5" has been ripped off.

This "Replacement Disk Set" does not include an Install disk, so Eyetech included their own "Eyetech A1200 Hard Drive Partitioning & WB Installation Disk". Again, their own label is stuck on top of the disk's original label, which is not identifiable. They have applied a barcode and Serial Number, presumably unique, to the disk label.

OK, I've dug out my "The Very First" disk and dumped it. The checksum is $1AB58E91, which agrees with Rixa's dump, and now meets the requirement to be colour-coded green.

The disk label is Commodore branded, green and carries the legends "AMIGA 500", "The Very First English Version", "P/N 380921-02" and "14.07.87".

They are old disks, some with stained labels which are barely legible. Not one of these have I had from new. Some checksums may be OK, but there are some disks here you would think should be identical, yet they have different checksums.

Hi Supamax,

Eyetech was an Amiga developer and reseller. A developer in that it developed the AmigaOne, and a reseller in that it was a UK dealer in new Amiga equipment from Commodore and later Escom. It also offered a repair and upgrade service. When it folded (a couple of years ago AFAIK), its remaining stock went to Amigakit UK.

I slightly changed - for editing reasons - the font used in the list.
I then noticed that:
- with Firefox it's viewed Ok
- with Internet Explorer, it's hard to see the difference between the bold green and the normal green

For this reason, I changed the normal green to blue.

I am quite pleased to see someone is organizing this, though my approach was going to be considerably more SPS-like. Since I've been kicking around ideas and code for this for 3 years but never actually did anything with/about it, I'm thankful for you guys.

Greg Donner collected a *LOT* of information on Workbench, including part numbers:

And remember there were at least two sets of 3.1 - one was specific to the A4000T (workbench.library) and I believe had both a custom Installer and Workbench disk.

Also, don't forget "retail" SuperKickstarts! For a while (at least 2.01?-2.04), SKS A3000s had commercial SKS disks shipped to registered owners. Ditto Kickstart disks for the A1000. They should not be left out!

I didn't find the time (yet) to utilize all the data from these sites (including Greg's, of course)

My Amigas and disks are unfortunately buried very deep in storage, but I hope to rectify that this summer.

One other thing to consider is the wealth of utility/driver disks Commodore produced - for the A2090/A2091, A590, A2024, etc., etc. Not sure if they are considered 'in scope', but they were important nonetheless.
