Kingdoms of England?

Pardon if this is known to be unworkable or something.
Kingdoms of England was one of my absolute favorite games and I am gutted there does not appear to be a WHDLoad version.

It looks like someone was working on it a few years back but Im guessing they ran into difficulties?

It was one of the all time great games especially two player, and if Richo reads this, he should just admit that I beat him every time!

Yeah, it was super fun. I recall needing relokick to make it play nice on my 1200.

Someone would be me. I still have the Kingdoms of England Patch on my ever growing TO DO list and will hopefully finish the patch one day. It's been a long time that I last worked on it, as far as I remember, I found a solution for the disk change problem but then encountered some other problems.
Anyway, the patch has not been forgotten or abandoned.

The Kingdoms of England patch is now finally available.

I've put an installed version in the Zone for test.

It locks up for me after the title screen when music fades out but not for StingRay.
It could be emulation related, I don't have a working Amiga capable of running WHDLoad anymore.

Same happens for me in WinUAE 5.0.0 with a basic WB 3.1 setup. Files extracted under emulation.

Same here on real A1200 with Blizzard 030 and A1200 with pistorm32 .

When the music fades out after the intro the amiga locks up with Floppy LED turned on.

Hehe, works like a charm on real A1200 with pistorm32 too. Just used the first adf I got on the net

Retroplay informed me about that problem, the game checks the protection track at this point and I have disabled that code in the patch. Either there is a bug in my patch code or something else causes that problem. I will check and update the patch accordingly. Hopefully won't take too long, as I really want to look at something else than the KoE code for now. For obvious reasons.

And it indeed was a bug in my patch code (last minute change as usual...): the special case code to handle the protection check file used a wrong offset (for some reason, I added the hunk header to the offset, so it was off by $20 bytes, interested coders can check the diff on my github). As I had a disk in my drive all the time, I didn't notice the problem. Anyway, it's now fixed.
