Hologon by The Electronic Knights (OCS Demo)
Man, that's one impressive OCS demo.
Imagine seeing this one running on an A500 in the computer store in 1987.. [ Show youtube player ] |

CopperFills are back!
[seen a similar effect in several daJormas video and i think is a copperfill lightly misplaced to give the effect of a gouraud surface] Last edited by saimon69; 18 March 2021 at 03:40. |

It would be interesting what techniques he used are the results of more recent algorithms. Dezecrator had some good beats for back in the day. I don't know what year he released introfonty, or when fred released the mod for the agile cracktro but those were some good techno beats for early days.
Do coders use the PC now for compressing as it is faster to calculate the tables needed for maximum compression? |

The following link should take you to the Amiga ones: https://www.pouet.net/prodlist.php?p...ga%20OCS%2FECS I'm still in awe how they do it but would be interesting to see how these look on my CRT! |

That is one fucking AMAZING demo!
Sceners are really pushing the envelope with A500 demos lately, with classics like The Fall, De Profundis, Eon and now this. |

Great stuff (as mentioned in the WHDLoad request thread)

Some scenes rely on tight framerate and 25Hz flicker, and so will look better on a PAL CRT than PC CRT or LCD, because of the 50Hz framerate, and thicker phosphor layer retaining the image, akin to how human eyes work. (see blurbusters.com) This is completely false, according to TBL devblog. I would contrast that demo with this demo. |

As for the CRT, well I ran it on my 15khz LCD monitor as it was connected to my A600 (ADF written by Greaseweazle on a NOS 720KB floppy disk) - looked nice but considering I'm not a fan of pixels and prefer CRT, hopefully get to test this on weekend when I've managed to move the 28" 4:3 CRT TV back to its original location lol Can the code not be compiled on PC from source?... |

Yeah its amazing how pricey those external drives were when they first came out. Did that 512K come with a clock as well? |

Just to say, I've been going through a few of these on pouet for the Amiga and it looks great! I'm simply writing the ADF using my Greaseweazle for a seamless way to get the disk over to my A600 lol. Still waiting for my CRT to return so I can do a test of both real hardware vs WinUAE!
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=1483 and https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=394 How does it render the 3D objects so quickly!? Last edited by lesta_smsc; 26 February 2021 at 01:49. |

My question is how do we "emulate" the CRT experience on an LCD?!

The furthest I got with my coding was my own 3d was outline only with no hidden line culling... This is inspiring me to try and do more, but it's a mountain to climb! Are there any good guides to fast 3d routines out there that people know of?

It is possible or so I'm told by using a special shader (used by MAME community) but I can't imagine you could get that clarity and phosphorous appearance without truly cathode rays hitting that panel!

If someone can recommend a shader that makes LCD look "almost" as good as this demo on CRT, please share. Need a side by to verify it. Even OLED could use some light photons hitting the screen to make it look wow. |

I've just tried running this on my 1000 - it loads 5 tracks, I get a flash of a graphic on a screen and then hang... Same disk works on my rev5 motherboard 500 with the same disk drive.
