VNC software - AVNC?
Using 3.1.4 on A4000 with ZZ9000 and p96...
I want to configure a VNC setup so I can interact using a Win10 PC. I found Avnc-beta6b that leverages p96's RTG functionality, but I can't get it to work. It connects and authenticates, but then generates the message 'fatal error: getting screen info'. Anyone have suggestions or another working solution? TIA, John |

Does anyone use VNC with their Amy? If so, what do you use? |

Ah ok.. Never done that.. But maybe try some other screen depth (16bit maybe) and another resolution just to try out something...

Otherwise TwinVNC for AmigaOS3/4-MorphOS set-ups looks like it received some good support up until 2007 after being in development for a few years. - http://twinvnc.free.fr/Telechargemen...enu=7&lang=eng <---- TwinVNC website (English) - http://twinvnc.free.fr/ <---- TwinVNC website (French) - http://aminet.net/search?query=vnc <---- AmiVNC, TwinVNC + other VNC clients on Aminet |

I would advice using Synergy.
There's an Amiga server on http://uhc.driar.se/ And the main client on https://symless.com/synergy It's not VNC or Remote desktop of course, but it lets you seamlessly share your PC keyboard/mouse/clipboard over the network. The only condition is that your Amiga monitor is somewhere you can see it (like next to your PC screen for best experience) i made a small demo video on https://www.dropbox.com/s/vhxufqvmav...amiga.mp4?dl=0 with 1 mouse (and keyboard) flowing nicely between Amiga, OSX, Win en Linux. Thanks everyone! I tried 2 of the VNC implementations and they either gave bad results or died from lack of power from my 040.
I think I've settled on the Synergy solution - it works without taxing my Amiga, and I can use a large screen from the ZZ9000 on a dedicated monitor. |

ZZ9000 worked for me with the default settings and most recent boot software release. I haven't stressed the system's performance, but it has been running for days at 1280x1024 resolution.
The only issue I had to deal with was the tight fit - I couldn't place the longer board in the lowest slot. |

Never had much luck with VNC either. But that was when I used CyberGraphics. I've switched to Picasso 96 now so maybe it's time to try again.
What would be really cool is a Picasso 96 driver that supports remote displays. A bit like RDP in Windows. |

I was looking up wacom drivers and came across http://dspach.free.fr/amiga/vva/index.html. Fired it up and it worked first time after everything else had failed. I'm writing this from my Amiga 4000 VNC'd to a Windows 10 box. On the Windows end I'm running TightVNC server.
It's not going to be quick enough to play games, but in 16-bit mode it's surprisingly usable. |

Wait, maybe I'm misunderstanding a key point. It says it needs a RTG app, so I guess WB needs to be in RTG mode?

Thanks to @Steffest for bringing Synergy to my attention. I always dismissed the possibility of an app like it for my Mac and two OS3 migs either side but it is pretty darn good so far. I'm gobsmacked.

Loaded WB over to a RTG screen, but still have the same error. There's a AmiVNC, but it looks like you need stormC 4 to compile it. Not really interested in buying stormC on a maybe that will work idea. Unless someone else knows it works? |

I used to use TwinVNC (headless, in a Synergy configuration, just mouse and keyboard with dedicated monitors) together with AmigaExplorer (Network drive sharing).
The issue I found was you needed to use the Amiga keyboard and mouse to control the PC rather than the other way around. The reason being there were applications on the Amiga that didn't like networked keyboard and mice whereas the PC side was very compatible. Using the Amiga keyboard and mouse I could control my Windows XP PC and MacMini OSX. The Amiga and Mac have long since been stored but it was good when it lasted. AmigaExplorer I found to be the best drive sharing program. Amiga SAMBA was just too unstable. |
