What can be used to clean chip legs?

I think in the past I had read that chip legs can be cleaned using a Glass Fiber Sanding Pen.

Is this correct?

Also would any Glass Fiber Sanding Pen be good?

Example found this on Amazon;

Yes, this can be used. However, I found that these cheap ones tend to lose fibres which then stick to the legs and can get into your lungs.

Just use an eraser. Standard pencil one will do. That is what I use. If they are rusty I just give em a quick once over with some steel wool.

Even fine sandpaper can be used. Just need to be gentle that you don't apply enough force to break the pins!

You get Emery paper probably with finer grit.

I use fibreglass pen, although the wire wool pen is handy for more stubborn stuff.

I had battery leakage on some pins. That green stuff. Used white vinegar and it cleaned it wonderfully.

Yes because batteries are usually alkaline and vinegar (or even lemon juice) are acidic. Remember you may get a salt residue so wash with deionised water afterwards
