Lotus2 extremized speed test
another funny test, made combining the Goonies infinite turbo cheat, the NOMAD AGA fixes, and 60Hz
directly into the second stage, the nocturne one (twilight code) i think this is the max speed this engine can reach default A1200 to reload, but should work on other 680x0 cpu's too, with 2MB Chip >>> ADF test uploaded to TheZone <<< not to play the game, just to test the engine extremized, btw you can play also the rest of the game inserting the fixed for AGA NOMAD adf after the boot Last edited by kremiso; 02 March 2024 at 08:15. |

Good test, so on A1200 graphics can be improved mantaining the original speed.

game could be made even faster on AGA by enabling FMODE=3 (fast bitplane fetch) and leave more time for the blitting operations.
But it's not that simple, specially without the source. We did that with Ross on Supercars 2 (AGA) but a lot of sizes & memory buffers needed to be aligned for it to work. |

it does seems an F-zero chapter on Amiga
it can be useful to instantly check the slight speed difference between 68000 and 68020 in that stage |

Slightly off topic but did anyone try and modify "Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge" for full screen play in single player? also with the ability to change music track between races?
Most likely beyond the scope of a WHDLoad patch but I remember people saying a long time ago they had the source code for the first game. |

this is like Amiga version of SPEED with the accelerator stuck on ON i kept bouncing left and right against billboards too funny
i always loved getting into this level and see how fast i could be is this the original game engine or have you modified it? can we get the whole game with this performance? |

on standard game, the turbo can be collected for an extra bit of speed just in the last stage iirc the infinite turbo mode can be tried on OCS in the Goonies adf crack yes an AGA boot version starting from the begin can also be made |

Oh nice, How challenging do you think it would be to create a full screen version with track selection between races? Also is there any unused serial link code in the source? Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge with 4 players would be awesome.
I was always more of a fan of the first game vs 2 and 3 but I do like the additional features in the sequels. Serial Link from Lotus 2 and RECS from Lotus 3. |

doing further tries on the Goonies crack
a friend is testing on a real A1200 seems that playing the game with that turbo mode doesnt trigger the freeze crash on AGA real hardware so i think the turbo mode can be tried as it is also on AGA systems (i mean to play the entire game) a little shame no source code for this, this engine is faster than the Lotus3 one, it would be cool also a somewhat hack of that EDIT also interesting the difference between 68000 and 68020 in the second stage, as there isnt the road going backward effect in the tunnels using the latter config Last edited by kremiso; 15 February 2024 at 10:48. |

I know no-one will believe me but once something went wrong with the WHDload version for me and it was so fast it was unplayable. I normally play it in NTSC mode but this was something else, heigh-ho.

Normal split screen.. Oh I see it in the readme Possible forthcoming objectives for this project are as follows: Fullscreen mode for player 1; New tracks, or modification to existing tracks; Modified trackside objects, or additional zoom levels for trackside objects. * Seeing the project was released 3 years ago I doubt its still in production? |

He came back saying he hasn’t had the time since last to get back on the STe projects, so they aren’t closed as such.
As for Lotus 1, he says it was unlikely he could get it running at a decent speed to use the full screen mode without taking a big framerate drop, so i think he didn’t continue with that once he tested it. |
