Are you using that patched 3.X rom that comes with Amiga Forever by any chance?

A4000 KS ROMs don't work with 68EC020. AF 3.1+ ROMs are A4000 ROMs, not A1200..

Ah, thank you very much for shedding some light on this, Mr. Wilen, sir.

Belgarath: Once I figure out where, I'll add a little note about that somewhere.

Wilen: Any chance you could add something to the WinUAE config to distinguish between 1200/4000 (and other) kickstart versions without actually having to give the filename (GameBase Amiga uses the kickstart_rom setting)? Or is there already something that I missed?

v2.05 A600HD (KS 2.05, rev 37.350 or 37.300)
v3.1 r40.68 A1200 (KS 3.1 rev 40.68 A1200)
v3.1 r40.68 (KS 3.1 rev 40.68, both A1200 or A4000 version allowed)
v3.1;v3.0 (any revision of KS 3.1 or 3.0)
v3 A1200 (A1200 KS 3.1 or 3.0)
v2 AR (any Action Replay v2)
Multiple matches: highest available version is selected
Extended ROM config item: kickstart_ext_rom=
Cartridge ROM config item: cart=
Arcadia ROMs:

interesting reading.

Nice to see I was not just being a complete numpty on this one.
I did buy the amiga forever, so figured I would just use the kicks from within that (hey, I did buy it after al).

I wonder if a future version of the config file will include this autodetection for (I did not know it was) modified cloanto .rom files.

Also, still waiting for an answer on my point that the gemus file released 12 oct still *seems* to only go up to winuae 1.3.1

Am I correct on that issue, I did re-download it again before I replied as above and the file within still only goes up to 1.3.1

regards, and thanks for the non patronising replies guys, some other boards treat their members as tw*ts if they have not either written or personally contributed to the project.
cheers guys.

justthought of one last question.

I love the way Winuae starts in windowed mode, all clean and simple.
I have managed to get the full screen option working, but ocassionally on some games (nothing particular, it just *happens*) when you then run a game you just get the winuae menu load up and the game does not 'run'.

A simple reinstall of the amiga gamebase fixes it all.
If (like me) your desktop is running at 1920 by 1024, the window is a bit 'small', and a fullscreen option would be great.

As I said, I do not like tinkering as I find it an insult to all your hard work, and if (when) a user has an issue, it is nigh on impossible to diagnose if they have been tinkering.

I noted that the native winuae install has some configs (2 windowed and a full screen).
Is the included gamebase amiga.uae config file drastically different from these configs? In short, can I use the native install .uae files as I would like to run fullscreen...

Over to the experts.
Regards,
Arthur.

I've modified the configs so it looks for an A1200 kickstart 3.1 now (thanks toni)
so you will need to get an a1200 version of kickstart 3.1 as long as winuae recognises it as an a1200 kickstart 3.1 then it will (should) work, nothing else needs changing.

The gemus file erleased on 12th october does go upto winuae 1.3.2, this has been checked by both elowar and myself, I did notice however on your screenshot of the zip file that the name had a -2 at the end which suggests you've got more than 1 copy of the archive so I can only assume you're looking at an older copy.

as for the resolution, thats entirely upto you! unfortunately GameBase doesn't allow easy selection of user config options otherwise i'd have included it, but if you want to change the resolution simply go to your GameBase\GameBase Amiga directory and in there you will find a GameBase Amiga.uae file, open the file with winuae and you can change the resolution there to whatever you want, just make sure you then save the config file back to that directory.

Then GameBase will use that resolution for all the games.

Oh I've just remembered that a fullscreen res is already set in the config at 720x576, just hit ctrl-f12 whilst winuae is running to switch to fullscreen mode and back again. Again simply change the res if your monitor doesn't support it.

Ctrl-f12

Most useful info!
I will give that a shot.

RE the -2 in the screnshot, that is because I was comparing the original update file I downloaded to the new 12th oct ver.. (2 files with the same name, and the same unarchiver differentiating between the two.

I shall once again download the new 12th oct file.

I really don;t get why I am not managing to get the same results..
(has a thought),
perhaps I need to flush my cache and refresh the screen, I might be geting a cached version of the download file form the internet proxy here at work...
I will try downloading this file at home...
will report back.

:)

either our proxy held on to the original file for too long, or the ISP did not update the linked file immediately. (did you use your local updated manually ver, or try to use the public available download and use that ver?)
As I am our network admin (!) I think the old issue of websites not updating immediately is the prob.
I did read your message and go to the website and get the file ASAP.
I think perhaps *too* ASAP.

in short, the 1.3.2 support is glaringly there.

again, thanks.

RE SPS titles..

I have 'located' a tosec collection of SPS files, but I guess that will just give me a pain..
Similar to the bittorrent I stumbled across that highlighted the existance of the Gamebase Amiga project, (complete with extras! etc), is there a torrent that links to the gamebase ver of the SPS files?

We can't give any links or help pertaining to getting SPS files, but I can say that the torrent you've found will work with GameBase Amiga, after all SPS files are SPS files, they don't change, you'd just have to use the GameBase Amiga SPS dat to rename them after you downloaded them.
