Would loading WWP files directly be possible?
I suspect not, but I'm keen on learning what obstacles are in the way and/or why it's not plausible. It's playing on my mind so I need to be put at ease, doctor!

afaik wwp files that contain known formats are not stored in raw format and need format-specific preprocessing (in m68k assembly) before they are in raw format that can be converted to a disk image (or written to a real disk)
(something similar to ipf images that also needs processing) |

This is something entirely different to, say, changing the WWP with WWarp's Force parameter, right? I mean the bit about conversion before writing reminds me of that.

Toni is correct. Everytime WWP is updated with a new format, WinUAE would need to be recompiled to accept the new format. It's not worth the trouble!
