iomega zip 100 SCSI drive (external) for Amiga

Hey all excuse me being short but typing this on mobile phone.

I have an Amiga 2000HD and 4000 desktop that I'd love to get WHDLoad and a few other things on. I can get the kickstart versions if it helps answering questions. I just need some idiots guide to getting the Zip drive working on one or both machines. I've never mounted anything Amiga wise before. All my machines with hard drives and operating systems came to me set up ..

Assuming the hard drive controller is an SCSI, then most have a 25-pin connector to which you would add the ZIP drive. You then need to set the ZIP drives ID so it doesn't conflict with the HDDs; that can be checked via software (HDToolbox, FindDevice, etc) or by visually inspecting the HDD. The ID numbers range from 0 to 6. Once you have that done, insert a ZIP "floppy" and install it using HDToolbox or similar, then format it.

If you can get them, I reccommend a 250mb SCSI zip. They are much faster than the 100mb version. Transfer speed is around 2.2mb/sec versus .78mb/sec for the 100mb drives. The 250mb drives are just about equal to the native IDE speed on the A4000. Zip and Jaz drives both work great with Amigas. The 2091 controller needs the version 7 rom to have full eject and automount. The built in scsi controller in the A4000T works with them as do the GVP SCSI cards and the built in controller on the Cyberstorm MKIII and PPC. Jaz drives work very well with Amigas too and are fast. The 1gb Jaz does over 3gb/sec the 2gb drives are even faster, something like 7-8mb/sec on a SCSI controller that does synchronous transfers.
