Low budget upgrades?
I'm looking to play the latest demos, but my system can't handle most stuff. I'm a student and on a low budget so I was wondering what's the best way to get my system up to speed without breaking the bank? What's the best bang for buck upgrade? My budget is around £100

What is 'your system' ? £100 will only buy you a Fast RAM expansion for an assumed A1200. That will be a two-fold increase in speed over a standard unexpanded A1200. Emulation will perhaps be a better option in this case.

@paul1981 - going into his profile it seems he already have fast ram on his A1200...
ATM there's no option for what price range. There might be in the future if all goes well. |

As you already have fast ram, there's not much going to help there. You can watch all the OCS demos, but almost all AGA stuff is 060 only. You'll have to emulate/you tube like me! Spend the £100 and get a c64 :-) or save it, and wait for the fpga accelerator being worked on. I heard it's past 25nhz 040 already.

The Amiga is a funny old hobby. You can spend a fortune on hardware and get not much, or you can spend nothing on emulation and get everything.
It depends how much you like the creak of that old plastic. |

We have a very low cost A1200 8MB memory expansion which is around £57.
It features: * 8MB Fast RAM with new modern memory * More than doubles speed of the Commodore-Amiga 1200: performance increase to 2.91 MIPs. * Maths Co Processor (floating Point Unit) socket - accepts a 68882 FPU up to 40Mhz * Header for optional Real Time Clock module * Second clockport header Official Wiki with the support information for the new A1200 8MB Fast Memory Expansion: http://wiki.amiga.org/index.php?titl...mory_Expansion |

Sell the FAST RAM card, add 100 quids, buy a 020/030 card?
