Help converting an 8bit ISA slot to 16bit ISA slot
Hi, just wondering how I would go about doing this. I want to convert 1 of the 8bit (short) ISA slots in my A2K to a 16bit (long) ISA slot.
I know you can just 'solder the extention on' but where do I get the extention from and how would I solder it on? Pics would be useful. Thanks alot |

You can try and find the correct connectors from an electronics store (they might have to be ordered), or otherwise get an old PC motherboard from .. somewhere .. and desolder a couple of ISA connectors off that..
Just the 16bit parts may be hard to find, so it's easiest to take a whole 16bit slot and cut it in two.. Then just trim off the excess plastic from where you cut it and solder the 16bit pieces to the A2000 motherboard. The A2000 mobo will have to come out for this modification, as you will be soldering to the bottom side of the board. |
