Sample Pitch Problem

I'm making AMOS samples in Audacity and then using Goldwave to convert to .iff format, but I've noticed 2 issues -

When I import the sample into AMOS it's always slightly lower pitch than the original, this is fine if I could pitch it up in AMOS which leads to my second problem -

I can't pitch samples up in AMOS no matter what value I put in frequency, I can pitch them right down so they sound like whalesong, but not up. I've tried saving the .iff in different frequencies but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Thanks

Setup - AMOS Pro V2, Winua 4.4.0, Windows 10

Have you tried the Sample Bank Maker? (AMOS accessory program)

That's what I'm using to import the samples.

Sounds like you have to reduce the sample rate (you've hit the maximum playback rate in the sample bank maker, right?). I use Open Mod Plug Tracker for manipulating and converting samples to Amiga format, and it has an option called "resample" which I guess is what you need. Alternatively you could re-record with lower sample rate if that seems like a simpler option.

Thanks for the reply, Yes in the AMOS sample editor I seem to have hit the max playback rate. I've installed OpenMPT and imported the sample but I can't see a way to save back in .iff format.

You would have to save the samples in raw format from OpenMPT, but no worries, AMOS can handle that as well. Just make sure the waveform uses 8-bit samples before saving: right click the waveform and select "Convert to 8-bit" if the option is listed.
